Unhappy Bub has a stuffy nose

DS has a stuffy nose and a bit of a cough. He isn't off his food too much and no temp so doesn't seem too serious but the stuffy nose is bothering him alot at night. He wakes up a few time in the night screaming coz he cant breath. We have fess but he is half asleep so i dont really want to fess his nose as i dont think it would be nice having drops shoved up your nose when you are half asleep.

Is there anything i can do to maybe help the stuffiness from not developing as much. I have heard of putting baby vicks on bubs feet but ds is wearing sleep suits with feet. Would this work still?

Any other hints would be appreciated!

have you tried a vapouriser in his room?

Use the fess before feeds and before his sleeps. Also keep his head elevated in the cot to help his breathing. You can use a vapouriser to humidify the room, as dry air isn't helpful for a stuffy nose and cough, but the vaporiser has to be thoroughly cleaned each day or it can make things worse.

My DS is slowly recovering from bronchiolitis and he started off with similar symptoms to what you've described. Started out with a dry cough and stuffy nose but no fever. Cough became worse and he would have coughing fits where his face would go bright red and he'd be struggling to get a breath in. He would cough so much his feeds would usually come up. His chest became very crackly/croaky sounding and wheezy and he had a lot of trouble breathing. His case was bad and we spent a few nights in hospital last week. So just make sure it's not bronchiolitis!

Also, I asked my gp about vicks and she said not to use it as it's too strong

HTH, and I hope DS recovers soon and it's nothing serious

same issue here - elevate the cot, using a vapouriser and actually dropping drops of breastmilk down his nose. I have been told that Fess is not a good product
