Getting 10 month DD to have a nap

    Hey all,

Really hoping that someone can help me here. We have just got back from holidays and i need to get my little DD back into having proper day sleeps but i am having a real battle. i expected her to be unsettled and therefore i feel like i am starting from scratch getting her back into some sort of routine - any type would be good! She wont go to sleep without a bottle which i am happy to give her but i don't like her drinking to sleep as she used to just go down on her own. The arvo sleep is the worst and i can fight her for 2 hours sometimes to get her to sleep. At the start she will just walk around her cot and chat away and then the longer it goes on the more she starts crying. I sometimes go in and lie her down - this usually creating another meltdown - but i don't know if i should just stay out of the room and let her go for it and hope she falls asleep. I try to leave her until she is definitely tired before trying to get her to nap so i don't think it's thats she not tired. I give her water every now and then when she has been going for ages but again do i just stay out of the room and cross my fingers!

Any advice will be appreciated on how to embark on this challenge!

    xo

Hi Not sure if I can help much because what I did is not for everyone but I used to lay down on my bed with my DD and she would play a little then settle down and I would rub her back or stroke her hair until she went to sleep. She could climb on and off our bed safely though, however when she was asleep i would put a pillow on the edges of the bed in case she rolled but she never did. some people dont like to do that as they think the baby will need you all the time but it didnt affect any other routines for us it was like she knew that was her afternoon nap routine. If you ask me anyway it doesnt matter how they get to sleep just as long as they do get to sleep lol.

otherwise it could be a little bit of a phase for her, let her go and you might find in a couple of days or weeks she might go back to her previous routine, sorry I couldnt help much.

    Good luck xo
