Wondering if someone can give me some thoughts and references on vaccinating newborns straight away. What exactly are in the vaccinations and when are they administered? I am aware that there are sites that discuss some of the cons of vaccinations but I am not sure what they are - possibly Canadian?
Thanks

Chelsea had Vitamin K done around 4 hours after birth in an injection as i found it easier to do it on the spot rather thne in miltiple doses. Heb B was given on discharge day...so 48 hours later.
Jesse was given them all as i was being stitched up, so within minutes of being born. It was at 1.21am so not sure if that made a difference but it probably depends on the place i guess.
Daniel got his Vit K almost as soon as he was born. He then had his first Hep B at day three.
Since then he has had all of his injections up to 6 months and has pulled through them like a little trooper. Not even so much as a temperature, but a sore leg on all occasions - usually the leg with the Tetanus in it. The Tetanus hurts me - no wonder he was in pain.
That is interesting about the Hep B after a couple of weeks, I didn't know about that. I will also look up and do some more research on it. I have also already decided to do the Vit K orally, but I didn't realise it would have to be done multiple times .... hmmmm ....
nox, do you mean the Vitamin K injection multiple times? That's only a one time injection to give the body a boost. The body produces its own Vitamin K after that - I think the bacteria in the lower intestine do this. If I remember rightly from Uni Biology.
The Hep B is a course of injections - if you wanted to get the vaccination you would have to go back for the full course too.
We had the standard injections done for both boys, Vitamin K straight away, and hep B on about day 2.
If we have another child, I will only do the Vitamin K orally, and then only if we have a boy, as both my other boys are circumcised, and it helps with the clotting of the blood. If we have a girl I will not be giving the Vitamin K. Both boys had really bad jaundice and apparently the vitamin K can affect the liver, and thus cause the jaundice.
I will also be giving the Hep B later, I do think that our babies are so little with no immunity at birth and waiting, as done in other countries may give the child a better chance of having less problems with immune problems like asthma, eczema, reflux, celiac....
I do see the importance of immunisations, and why the majority of the population needs to be vaccinated, do some research, you will be surprised what you do find. I was.
It is not the Vitamin K itself that I have a problem with, but the other chemicals contained in the vaccination. I am a chemist and I know that I would not give these things to my child if someone sat me down and said, here is the vaccine and this is what is in it.
I am sorry to here that Jessalyn has been so unwell with Liver disease, like I said it isn't the vitamin K, it is everything else in it. I am not disputing that Vitamin K has a very important function in the body.
Here is what I have found:
Vitamin K is naturally stored and metabolized by the liver. The cell division that rapidly continues after birth depends on precise amounts of vitamin K to proceed at the proper rate. Introduction of levels that are 20,000 times the newborn level, the amount usually injected, can have devastating consequences.
Vitamin K vacciness also contain hydrochloric acid "for pH adjustment." Roche’s vitamin K product KONAKION contains ingredients such as phenol, propylene glycol (derived from petroleum and used as an antifreeze and in hydraulic brake fluid) and acetic acid (an astringent antimicrobial agent that may drastically reduce the amount of natural vitamin K that would have otherwise been produced in the digestive tract). Phenol is a carbolic acid and is a poisonous substance which is distilled from coal tar. It has the ability to inhibit phagocyte activity, meaning it is toxic to all cells. Phenol is capable of disabling the immune system's primary response mechanism. It can also cause systemic poisoning, headache, shock, weakness, convulsions, kidney damage, cardiac failure, kidney failure, or death. Propylene glycol can cause serious damage to liver, heart and central nervous system.
The inoculations exceed an infants recommended daily dietary intake by over 100 percent. Peer reviewed journals have linked large doses of vitamin K to childhood cancers and leukemia. Animal studies have linked large doses of vitamin K to a variety of conditions that include anemia, liver damage, kidney damage and death.
Cancer researchers say that the synthetic vitamin K vaccine may significantly increase the risk of childhood cancer. Researchers in 1990 noted an increased incidence of childhood cancer in children given vitamin K inoculations at birth. They also found that the vitamin K injection doubled the incidence of leukemia in children less than ten years of age. A study in 1992 revealed the same association between injected vitamin K and cancer. Literature reveals that there are 1.5 extra cases of leukemia per 100,000 children due to vitamin K injections.
Interestingly the common problem that occurs these days of jaundice in newborns has only been reported since the introduction of Vitamin K administration. Normally bilirubin passes through the liver and is excreted as bile through the intestines. Jaundice occurs when bilirubin builds up faster than a newborn's liver can break it down and pass it from the body.
I don't want to be controversial, I have two kids and like I said I have vaccinated both, my first child is a picture of health my second isn't, he has so many problems that I have gone over and researched everything I can on this and I just feel that from what I have read and the peoples comments, is that there is a very small part of the population whose children do not do well with the vaccinations. I didn't even know until recently that we had a choice, or what these vaccinations are for or contain.
