Giving baby water

Hello!

Just wondering when or if I should be giving my 12 week old water? I've read a few threads and didn't realise it was commonplace to be giving water at such an early age? If so, when should I give it to him, how much?

i dont think Bf babies need water, but i was told to give water cos DD is FF...for memory i think it was 30ml a day. hope someone else can give u more info my memories shocking lol

You don't need to if BF. The fore milk is more watery to quench their thirst which is why you'll find that quite often BF bubs will feed more often during summer cos they're thirsty.

You don't need to, even though he is formula fed, but I do think it helps prevent constipation. I never used to give it to Annika at that age, but that's because she had enough trouble having her milk. Plus, as Blakey is such a hungry bubba, the water might help to fill him up more. Haven't heard from you in a while sweet, missin ya.

Hi!

I never gave Louis water this age...and haven't given Dylan any yet...from memory I started Louis when he started solids! He had a little cup that he learnt to drink from...so I think the cups start from 4 months...Louis hasn't ever had a bottle! I also started him with solids around 4 months though as well...
I'll probably do the same with Dylan - around 4-5 months...

I give Lelani the waterbottel, she takes two sips and then gives me a what-the-hell face!! Seriously, I would only give water when it is very hot (summertime) or if she is constepated. And then just as much as she would drink. You don't need to force him. I put 50ml in a bottel and like I said, two sips at a time between feeds. No need otherwise, you make the formula with water.
