    Green poo!

My 10 week old baby who is down to one breastfeed a day and has been formula feeding since 6 weeks has had a pasty dark green poo. Is this normal? He has had a cold and bit of a cough the last week and a temp of 37.3 deg but the doc says this is very low grade and to just use a vapouriser. I haven't given him panadol today and he has just had a breastfeed right before he did this strange poo. He did do a couple of green ones when he was about 2 weeks old. But they say in breastfeeding babies the odd one is ok. What about in formula fed babies? He wasn't feeding as well as he usually does becuase of the blocked nose but has been feeding fine last night and today. I was giving him karicare (the thick one) then changed back wednesday to the normal one. Could this have done it?

    hello
    YEP normal.
Formula can be very high in Iron - and when the excess iron (not needed by bub) is excreted through the poo - it is a green colour... hence green poo!

As for stuffy noses - babies will get them on and off all year. Unless he is having trouble breathing or high fever , i wouldnt be too concerned. YOu can drip a few drops of saline in his nostrils to help soften the hard snotties and make it easier for him to breathe

DS has had dark green pasty poop since he started on formula. Funnily enough though, it changed colour to yellow (no sign of green at all) a couple of days ago. I was just assuming that the green poop was normal ... not sure if it's meant to change colour now though!

    Thanks for your replies.
I just did his temp and its 37.3 again. Should i give him some panadol?
This is the first green poo since we started the formula a month ago. It was yellow/mustardy before that. Maybe because last week i cut down to one breastfeed a day or something. Thank god for belly belly where talking about your babys poo is the norm hey hehe.

mama - is he upset or irritable?
if not i wouldnt go the panadol.
i dont classify 37.3 a fever - perhaps take a layer of clothes off if you are concerned.
