My daughter over night had green (very green) poo. She is 6weeks old and breastfeed. Can any tell me why this might be and if I should be worried. She also had mustard coloured as well.

Have you eaten anything different to normal?
mustard coloured is normal for b/f bubs.
Is it a bright green, or a dark green?
Dark green or khaki colour can be an indication of more iron being present.
Think about what you've eaten and if you think that could have caused it?
Hey Bridee
Avaleigh's poo has turned green this morning too!! Its more like a dark green and it was only a little skid mark so I am waiting to see what it looks like when she does a full poo. I dont think I have eaten anything different.
Ray - is more iron present a good thing or a bad thing?! Such a shock to see a different colour poo that I get instantly worried something is wrong!
Its not any left over meconium is it? I know a few weeks after Jesse was born he had bits of that still coming out. Its like some may have been stuck still in his bowels.. which is totally normal.
Jesse was formula fed from 9 days but up until he was eating solids his poo was always, mostly, a green khaki colour.
not sure whether its good or bad, I just know that the greener poos tend to indicate a higher iron content. For this reason as well, a greeny colour can be normal for formula fed babies.
I think only your doctor could advise whether it was too much iron.
It only happened a few times for us, so we didn't worry about it.
