DS has a singlet and flanelette pjs on with a 2.5tog bag, central heating is set on 20. Seems to be nice and warm without roasting.
Hi,
I think i may have posted something similar to this before, but its still bothering me..
I find it so hard knowing if DS is too cold or too hot. i know i should just feel him, and go with my instints.. but i'm really curious to hear what you all do?
So my question is what do you dress your little ones in for bed if you are putting them in a 2.5 grobag?
Do you put any blankets over them?
What is the room temperature? do you have a heater?
I generally follow the instructions given with the grobag but it has been freezing overnight! and i'm not sure if DS is waking up because he is cold.
TIA

DD goes into a grobag or warm blanket with a second blanket and her room set to about 20 as well, any colder and she keeps waking up if its too warm she gets all congested.
DS wears a singlet and a wondersuit or a singlet and fleecy pj's under his 2.5 grobag. Room temp drops to about 18 degrees overnight and he seems to be fine with that. He even seems comfortable when the room temp goes up to 24 when we have the ducted heating on, he doesn't seem to get too hot.
Bella has long sleeve cotton pj's with a singlet underneath - then in her sleeping bag and then wrapped with a blanket and a blanket over the top that is tucked in firm so she cant wriggle out. We have our reverse cycle on pver night and its on between 20 - 24 as it gets to -2 here over night and our house is 40 yrs old and have gaps that can get drafty. She usually gets her arms out and I tuck them under her top blanket. DD likes it warm and never wakes over night (unless sick) so Im not changing!!
If the roomis cold during her day sleeps she will wake after 20 mins - but if I have the heater on she will sleep for 1 hr +.

Oskar started waking up at night a while back so I went and bought long sleeve singlets and he wears that with t-shirt material long pj's and a pair of socks. We have the heater so the room is anywhere from about 18-21 degrees. He stopped waking up once we got the long sleeve singlets instead of normal ones so he must've been feeling chilly on the arms. I can't remember what the recommendation for that temp is with the 2.5 tog is but I think I have more on him than it says? I kinda go think that I have a BFing singlet on with t-shirt material pj's and a doona, so I figured maybe he was getting cold too. It's sooooooo, so hard to determine the comfort of another person. I feel the cold whereas DH doesn't and will wear shorts when I'm all rugged up lol.
DD wears a singlet, a long sleeve body suit and long sleeved pjs with her 2.5. We have the grobag egg and its usually yellow and around 18 degrees. We have a little oil heater to keep that temp. I don't use a blanket.
i found the grobag recommendations to be slightly too cool for DS. we keep the room at about 19-20 degrees and he wears pjs (like a track suit) and the 2.5 tog grobag.
The ideal room temp overnight for a nursery is 17-18 degrees. I leave my heating on 17 overnight. He either sleeps with a sleeping bag & a blanket or 2 or 3 blankets depending on their weight.
Yeah DS doesn't have blankets either because he gets out of them, he sleeps in all sorts of positions in his cot.
I found the grobag room temp recommendations too cold. I freeze my arse off if the room is less than 21 degrees
I found the guidelines too cool for my DD. We keep the heater on 16 degrees and have her in a singlet, long sleeve pj top and a wondersuit. She's in a 2.5 tog grobag with two blankets as well! I found she would wake up cold if I put her in anything less. We used to have the heater higher but found she would wake up more because it's quite drying (central heating) and noisy too!
Thanks everyone, i dont have any friends with babies so its great to hear what other people do!
i also have found that the grobag recommendations are a bit on the cooler side.
Ds wears one of those longsleve bodysuits, a wondersuit with a 2.5 grobag. and i have one of those panel heaters on in his room usually set at 18-19 degress.
Do you think thats enough??
Ds also does acrobatics in his cot so theres no way i can use any blankets!
To stop my DD escaping from under the balnkets I actually tuck the bottom of the grobag into the cot. Am I the only one that does this?![]()
