I have 3 girls....i took DD#3 - 20 months on Monday to get her first haircut at the hairdresser. DD#1 needed her fringe cut too - so i let her go first, so DD#3 could watch and see that it wasnt all that bad.......anyway....we had tears, and screaming (From DD#3), i had to hold her in a headlock possi whilst hairdresser cut her fringe, and tidyed up the back. I forgot to ask for a lock of hair as she was cutting (as you do with your third !!!) but she had already put a lock aside and popped it in an envelope...
I was a bit like you, didnt want to do it myself. Ive seen friends cut their kids hair and botched it right up.

Lol DD will be turning 2 in a couple of months and I still haven't gone anywhere near her head with a pair of scissors, or let anybody else do so, and she was born with a good two inches of hair all over!!
It's getting so long now, it would just break my heart to mess with it - it's long and blonde and SUPER thick like her daddy's and mine, and gets a bit of a wave to it at the ends
Her fringe is really long and it's always in her face, but it's so cute to watch her do the same motion DH does, with their fingertips, to push the hair out of their faces lol... And it's easy to get out of her face with a hair tie, just whack it in a ponytail and we're set
So... I can't offer any advice, but I'd probably go a hairdresser at least the first time just because I couldn't live with myself if I messed it up badly lol And DEFINITELY keep that lock of hair, I can't wait for DD's, I sometimes go into craft/haberdashery stores and find myself poring over different ribbons, wondering which would be best to tie the lock with lol
ok, i am a hairdresser and i have to say i have seen sooo many bad home haircuts, where the mums have to bring the kids in to get it fixed up after they have made an absolute mess of it! and sometimes there is no fixing a bad haircut! lol!
please take your DD to a salon i had a look at your pics and imo i would just get all the ends trimed so it looks thicker all over and dont get a fringe so you can still tie all her hair up. fringes look good but can be high maintnance as they grow out quickly and end up in eyes, so not a good idea if you dont plan on getting her haircut regularly.
i am sure the hairdresser will give you suggestions. but make sure your clear if you dont want it to be too short.
i hope that helps, remember haircuts should be fun!
