    hair falling out

    Hey there,

My hair is falling out in handfuls! I have been breastfeeding for almost 16 weeks now, I'm taking Blackmores pregnancy & breastfeeding pills, zinc tablets and fish oil - but for some reason my hair is falling out.

has this happened to anyone else???

gawd I hope it grows back....

Mine is too! It's perfectly normal - read on....

The most common period of hair loss occurs approximately three months after delivery. The rise in hormones during pregnancy keeps you from losing your hair. After delivery, the hormones return to normal levels, which allows the hair to fall out and return to the normal cycle. The normal hair loss that was delayed during pregnancy may fall out all at once.
Up to 60% of your hair that is in the growth state may enter into the telogen resting state. The hair loss usually peaks 3-4 months after delivery as your hair follicles rejuvenate themselves. As noted before, this hair loss is temporary and hair loss returns to normal within six to twelve months.
Hope that helps - don't stress!

I have to clean my brush twice every time I use it LOL. Think of it this way....there's less to dry.
It's a pain I know but the worst bit is the vaccuuming I reckon.

Yep definitely normal, mine is just starting to stop falling out as much, but I swear at one point I was worried I would have none left, lol.

I am losing a lot of hair too but then I always have lost a fair bit. I'm having trouble telling if I'm losing a lot more than I used to. I can't remember!

But yes there is hair all over our house!

Mine fell out at a ridiculous rate too. It would fall all over the bathroom floor... it was terrible! I used to have lovely thick hair but it's getting thinner and thinner. It stopped falling out once I stopped BFing.

Oh yes, mine's growing back too like Fi's. You get a lot of short whispy bits at the front, very annoying.

Mine fell out like Fi's did but it started when Kayla was 4 months and didn't stop till she was almost 9 months. I felt like crying everytime time a lost a handfull.
