    Unhappy He bit me

As some of you know i'm concerned about DS1's behaviour and development to some degree. Anyway lately he's been getting scared of random things, he was watching a brainy baby dvd where there are shapes and colours and he just freaked out when a picture of a triangle came up...but he loves triangles, it just seemed to be THAT particular triangle. Anyway there have been other random fears and i know its normal at his age to start getting fears however today he just flipped out. Dh does this thing where he walks DS2 around the house and pretends DS2 is chasing DS1... usually ds1 will scream and get a bit scared but its more of a play thing really. Anyway the last few days DS1 has become terrified of DS2 crawling. If DS2 starts crawling towards me or DS1 he just flips out. Today he wouldn't let go of my legs and kept screaming at DS2. He was genuinely terrified of him. Anyway DS2 started crawling towards me and DS1 wrapped his arms around my leg and literally tried to crawl up me.. and then he bit me, hard on the hip. He's never been a biter and I think it was out of fear and frustration more than anger. I screamed because it really hurt and shocked me (it broke the skin) and poor DS1 got a fright from my reaction. I guess i'm just curious to know if its normal for a nearly 3 year old to get so scared of something (or someone)?

Wow. Pip's growing out of biting @ age 2 ... I was going to suggest it was a frustration at lack of his own communication skills but ...

    *hugs* and good luck

My DD3 is still frightened by loud sounds. Even though the runny, screamy through the house thing is fun, it gets the adrenaline running. If your little one is a bit sensitive, the actions that usually follow the adrenaline build will still kick in.

I have no idea if that even makes sense but when we do those sort of activities, we stop and calm down every so often so she doesn't get too overwhelmed.

Still not sure if that made any sense...

Does DS2 ever 'catch' DS1 during the game? Maybe if getting away is the main thing (iykwim) and there is no end result that little imagination is scared of whatever happens when DS2 does catch him?

When we catch you get smothered in kisses - so there is nothing to really panic about.

Thanks Lulu, maybe thats the problem. I'll try and make a game of it where the end result is lots of kisses and cuddles, hopefully that way he wont be so scared about what happens if DS1 catches him. Poor little man, i hate seeing him so frightened especially of his brother.

Has your DS2 been crawling for long?
All I can think of is maybe he didn't make the connection that DS2 isn't going to stay a baby forever and DS1 now being on the move is scaring him a little as he was used to his little brother staying put somewhere?
I'm not sure really, just an idea!
