My baby girl is 6 weeks old and has had her check up with the clinic nurse today. She has put on weight well and grown in length. At birth she was 8 pound 14 and 51 cm. Now she is 11 pound 14 and 55 cm. Just a question though is about her head circumference as it has only grown by 1 cm (36 - 37cm). The nurse said it should not be anything to worry about and that she will recheck it in 4 weeks. My husband and I have fairly small heads so maybe that is why. Should I worry or is it normal for babies to grow differently in different areas?
Perfectly normal for each baby to grow in it's own way and time. If they put on weight and follow the curve, they are fine. Just check with your next visit, if it had not grown anything - then you may need to see a dr. Enjoy her little cute head
We had the opposite problem...our DS has a big head (off the scales at 8 months old) and the nurses told us to go to the specialist for a proper check up because it was so big. In the end it turned out that he has a big head because his daddy's head is WAY off the scales...they've put it down to genetics... So there's a good chance your bub is the same. Just keep getting it checked every month or so to make sure and if you get worried at all, go to a paediatrician for peace of mind. Good luck!
