    Headbanging - is it normal?

    Hi everyone.
I'm stressing out a bit cos Flynn often bangs his head when he is upset or chucking a tantrum. I haven't been too bothered by it. It is only once or twice (fairly lightly), usually when he chucks himself down on the floor cos I say he can't have something or I take something off him etc. This morning however, he was upset for an unknown (to me!) reason and banged his head on the floor and then stood up and did it on the cot several times, and quite hard too. I'm stressing out a bit cos I kind of put headbanging in a special needs box ( sorry if I offend anyone).
Anyway, just want to know if this is 'normal' behaviour in a 14-15mth old. And if it's not is there anything I should do?
    Thanks

It's normal behaviour hun... my DD who is almost 12 was terrible for doing this. She wouldn't care what the surface was made from, she would throw her head against almost anything. My GP and her pead told me it was all fine. She is now an active, intelligent and artistic 11 yr old who no longer head butts (thankfully!)

    haha totally normal.

Just don't let him do it on the tiles like my DS did when he was that age - cracked himself a beauty and got a big lump from it. Funnily enough though - I think that was the last time he did it.. rofl

Charlotte often does it for fun too lol odd what passes for fun these days...

Anyway, she went through a phase where she would bang it from frustration. It didnt last long, but I remember being terrified she would do herself permanent injury she would whack it so hard!

She is fine, I just kept an eye on it and if she had a nasty bang, just used to look out for signs of concussion. lol.
