    HELP - 1st birthday

My DS is 1 in a couple of months and the kids coming will range from 6 months up to fourteen. Just wanting some ideas on food to serve and games to play. The party is from 10am - lunchtime.

I don't know many games that would amuse such a wide age group. Maybe a pinata...
For food I would just do morning tea stuff.
IMO it's not a birthday party without fairy bread and a birthday cake.

Oh, how exciting! I can't wait for Annika's 1st birthday! I've just listed a few things I remember doing as a kid, or have seen kids enjoy. Some of them might be a bit old for a one year old's party, but I had fun brainstorming lol.

    Food:
    Fairy bread
    Jelly with gummy bears
Those coco pop things all stuck together...
Kids could make their own pizzas, that was always a hit when I was a kid
Little boats made out of oranges, and flags
Spiders! Coke and icecream mixed together
Fruit tray, kiwi, strawberry, mango etc
Cupcakes with green chocolate mousse and chocolate frogs

    Games:
    Parce the parcel
    Pin tail on the donkey
    Apple bobbing
    Musical chairs
    Dancing and freeze
Sleeping lions (my favourite!!!, peace at last lol)
    Tunnel ball
Baby bottle bowling. Fill ten baby bottles with rice, and get everyone to knock them down!
    Treasure hunts

I'm all out of ideas! Hope you guys have fun

I went to a kids party once and there was a wide range of ages b/w kids. She had sandwiches(vege and cheese, cheese, egg etc), party pies, sausage rolls and mini hot dogs....
I wouldnt think the little ones would be itnerested in games....put out a few puzzles, if you have a sandpit, set of swings....that should entertain them. I think statues (music playing, then stops) is a great game for kids 5-14 years....with trendy top 40 music of course !!

For DS birthday up to age 3 we just got lots of toys out of the toy library, sand play water play, tunnels, huge blocks etc. Have balloons and party bags for the older kids and if you have a few in the older age group (10-14) maybe hire a gamesystem for them from the video store if you are worried about them getting bored.

I think the first game we did was pass the parcel but they didn't really get it and it led to more tears then smiles.

    Have fun planning

We really didnt play any games ay Abby's 1st birthday, but at my nieces and nephews parties we have played:
    Balloon Races
    Bobs and Statues
    Pass the Parcel
    Pinatas
Craft stuff- everyone had a party box and crown to decorate with jewels, feathers, sparkles etc (that was my fav! obviously for the older kids)

Hers was at afternoon tea time, so food we had:
    Sandwiches
    Cup cakes
    Chocolate Crackles
    Hot finger foods
    Fruit platters
    crackers/chips/dips
    And ofcourse the cake!

    Good luck!
