I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right section but basically our little man always falls asleep bout half way through his night bottle. I try burping him to wake him so he can have the rest of his bottle but he is dead to the world lol But my problem is he wakes up about 30 minutes to 1 hour later so I'm rarely getting alot of sleep. Do you think it's because for his night bottles, I just turn on the hallway light and don't talk to him to try to wake him up too much? Should I turn the light on? Any advice for me would be great TIA
Oscar was doing the same thing for his first couple of weeks. The MWs at the hospital told us to tickle his feet, undress him or tickle his chest to try and wake him up. If you are changing him at the start of each feed maybe wait until half way through and then change him?!?
Oh thanks, I never thought of changing his napppy half way through lol something so simple and I totally forgot! Yeah I normally do it at the starts becuz he screams so that should definately help by doing it mid feed and tickling, good too! DP always jokes around and tells me to poke him lol
Yeah, I was going to suggest changing in the middle of the feed. I did this between changing sides (often made us go through a few nappies tho LOL.. coz he'd go again at the end of the feed!) You could also unwrap him, not so that he's cold, but if they're too snug they can stay too sleepy to drink.
Hi Renee, I reckon you're doing the right thing by keeping lights low and talking softly. I haven't got any new suggestions for you (the others have said it all), except I used to very gently tap my fingers one after the other on Natalie's cheeks or forehead to try to keep her awake... You might find he 'wakes up' a bit more after a couple of weeks
I've had similar problem and i do all the things the others have suggested. most of the time it works. i found that sometimes i have to try 3 or 4 diff positions to get xav to burp, but sometimes i also have to be content with a fart. this boy doesn't always need to burp.
I agree with all the things the others have said - I always change the nappy between sides. With DD I had to have a wet face washer on hand and rub her cheeks with it to wake her up again -nothing else worked - she was better after about 4 weeks.
