    2 year old early risers?

Wondering if anyone has any suggestions or has a 2 year old going through the same thing!?

My 2 year old wakes up every single morning at 5.30am..... sometimes I bring him back to bed with me and he may sleep for another 3/4 of an hour but usually thats it, he's up, and subsequently so am I.....

He's always been an early riser but for the last couple of months 5.30 seems to be the norm.... I am 4 months pregnant and usually have to get up around 3 to go to the loo and by the time 5.30 comes around I am exhausted and don't feel like getting out of bed....

My hubby works away, 2 weeks on 2 weeks off so Its just me, so I have to get up... no sleep ins...

Does anyone have any suggestions to help him sleep in to a more sociable hour?

    Thanks

    L.

DS is 21 months old. He used to wake between 6-6:30am each day but lately its moved to 5:30ish which is just a bit too early for me!

This morning it was closer to 4, and I ended up sleeping on his bedroom floor, becuase he was not ready/wanting to be awake, but he wouldn't sleep and kept calling out mama!

I am just hoping things settle down again soon and he goes back to the 6-6:30 wake ups, as I can cope with those fine!

My DS is an early riser aswel. Always has been. In winter he wakes around 5.30 and in summer when it's lighter earlier it is usual around 4.30-5 he wakes up. I have tried everything to get him to sleep later but nothing works. When I put him to be later at night he actually wakes even earlier. Sorry not much help but I will be interested in anyone who has any ideas on who to get them to sleep longer.

This might be something, I just bought "Save our Sleep" by Tizzie Hall and I'm going to follow a couple of things I've read in the book...

    First :-
Putting your baby or child to bed at 7pm is the key to success. If you put your baby to bed any earlier or later, invariably you will cause your baby or child to wake up before she has had enough sleep.
    And Secondly :-
Quite often when parents are woken at 5 am, they make the mistake of treating the situation differently to if the disturbance took place aat 1 am, thinking their baby ahd had too much sleep by 5 am to attempt resettling so their only option is to get both themselves and the baby up! I believe that babies, toddlers and children who wake at 5 am and are not resettled are getting insufficient sleep. You end up with a very overtired and hyperactive baby and the only way out is to ask your baby to resettle, irrespective of how long it takes.
There is a case study in the book and I'm going to give it a try tomorrow.... babes has just gone to bed and fingers crossed he is asleep now as I haven't heard a peep in 15 minutes, so he's caught the 7 oclock bus.... I'm going to try and resettle in the morning and let him lie and hopefully go back to sleep...

I'll let you know how I go!

Aidyn went through this stage of very early rising around that age, and so did many of my friends little ones too...
I occasionally had success with blacking out the blinds/curtains (by hanging a dark sheet over the top).
Do you think it could be the cold waking him? As that is usually the coolest time of night/morning.

I think its fairly common... and I think its something that doesn't last forever. Aidyn's early waking periods usually lasted no more than a couple of months... Hopefully your DS's will be much more short lived!
