Don't worry, it will get better. I didn't realise it at the time but those first few months I was grieving for the loss of my old life to a certain extent. I knew that I loved and still love being a mum but its such a change to go from only really having to worry about one person (you) to suddenly having to fit your shower in when your baby has their nap. There were many days where I didn't get a shower til the afternoon because I was frantically trying to get housework done during her naps. Stupid really as you realise a few months down the track when you have it a bit more under control that the housework really wasn't so important at that stage. One thing DH did do for me in the early days was cook dinner quite alot. More from necessity than anything as we always had issues getting Emily to bed at a decent hour in the evening then and he knew that if he didnt cook dinner then he wouldn't get any til quite late!! I found that if I managed to get the veggies chopped or whatever needed preparing for dinner done then he was more inclined to do it. Its bad taht you have to spoonfeed them that way but if it means he cooks dinner then its something to think about. Perhaps you could try that with your DH? Don't really have any other suggestions but just know that it does get better in time. Cliche I know but its totally true. Emily is 6 months now and life is much easier and I feel more in control day to day. My mothers group was also a big help during this time as even though you have your baby with you and you talk baby stuff, its still good to get out and be sociable with other people going through the same thing as you. I don't think I could have coped so well with those first few months without them and I count them as good friends now so see if you can get involved with one if you haven't already.
