How often do you bath and/or change your newborn's clothes?

I'm just wondering if I'm weird after some comments made by a group of women a few days ago. I change DD3's clothes each morning - she has particular all in one's that are her pj's, and then in the morning I take her out of her sleeping bag and pj's and dress her for the day in fresh clothes. She is generally bathed/showered daily but we will occasionally skip a day, but the clothes still get changed. I know how I feel if I wear the same clothes so I figure while babies don't get dirty as such, they still have little chucks, dribbles etc. Most of these women were saying they bath their bubs every second or third day, and that they stay in the same clothes between baths unless they have a pooplosion.

Am I normal or are they? I'm happy to be the weird one - just curious

I was bathing every 2nd day but the HCN said that it was ok to bathe every day cos it would help with settling them in the evening. So no, you're not weird at all! Do whatever works for you

    Your not weird at all.
Even as tiny babies the girls would be changed first thing in the morning and before bed.
They also never wore the same 'bed' suit 2 nights in a row as they were both kind of spewy.

As it is now the girls have PJ's they wear a couple of nights in a row then they go in the wash, they get dressed in 'proper' clothes every morning unless we have a PJ day... BUT if we have a PJ day they don't wear the same PJ's to bed.

Baths / Showers were every 2nd day as it irritated the girls skin, now it's daily or every second day.

DD usually kept her jim jams on under her day clothes when she was little - too cold in our house at the time! we'd change her into clean jim jams if she got grotty during the day, or at night before bed. bath was whenever it was needed - sometimes every second day, sometimes daily, sometimes more than once in the day. she preferred showers with us until she was about 18 months old though...

thanks everyone. The major reason they had against changing clothes so frequently was the extra washing. Little do they know that my evil plan is to wash as many loads daily as I can of clothes, nappies, towels etc so that my horrid washing machine dies an unnaturally early death so I HAVE to get a new one!!

i bath her every 2nd to 3rd day, but would rather do it more often cause she does love her bath but depends how she is if we do it. im also lazy...i wear same clothes more than once, and unless she has thrown up etc will keep her in the same clothes more than a day...i do sometimes feel guilty and change her sooner.

Not weird, I also put fresh clothes on DS3 every morning. I have been giving him a bath every night too up until about a week ago as he had a bit of a cold and I didn't want to get him cold then warm then cold again! On the days I don't give him a proper bath I give him a top and tail wash - he loves having his face washed!

Changed DD clothes every day. We had designated jumpsuits that served as PJ's so I changed her from those every morning into fresh clothes. We started out bathing every day, but then her skin dried right out, so we pulled it back to every second. That went on until she was 7 weeks old and her hip brace went on and we couldn't give her a proper bath, but we still gave her a sponge down every second day.

I always bathed DD daily - it settled her at night and was part of the bed time routine. Clothes wise - she also had a set of onesies that were her "pj's" and I changed her each and every morning into proper clothes. The only time she ever wore onesies in the day was when she was ill.

I do recall having people tell me I was weird at the time and thought, as others have said, I don't like being in the same clothes all day and night so why should she?

Not weird. We did bath every night before bed and changed bub out of her pjs and into clothes for the day every morning. It helped our DD distinguish when it was bedtime doing a nighttime bath and it calmed her too.

I always dressed both my kids in morning and changed into pj's before bed.. Bath was usually everyday, but I was never pedantic about that, but I was with dressing them..

Our boys have a bath twice a week unless they get sweaty then its daily. Clean clothes every day, pjs changed once a week. They get out of their pjs when they wake and back into them just before bed. Sometimes dh doesn't change ds2's clothes in the morning, but the kinder teacher will pull him up on it.

I've lost track of how many loads of washing I've done today, but DD3's portion of that is pretty insignificant.
I'm completely surprised at how much more washing I have to now! I could easily do 3-4 loads a day... I don't. But I could

When C was little he was quite chucky, so I just changed him as needed. Now I dress him every morning and into his pj's at night.

I bathe him usually every second day now.

Don't think it matters as long as the baby isn't sitting in heavily soiled clothing and is clean and happy

Bathed and changed as needed. Not often bathed but clothes everyday unless...not sure what but I know they sometimes wore the same close for 24hrs max as tiny babies.

Then all of a sudden it seems you change and bath them 2-3tines a day. NONE of them wear the same pjs twice. I reckon I don't wear the same undies two days running why pj pants????

    I love washing not

It's 'Anything Goes' at our place. Change their clothes daily, but bathtime/s for bubs and the older kids depends on how dirty they are, if we've just got in the door and they need to get to bed asap, how tired we all are...

I was lucky enough to receive 3 lots of hand me downs for DD, so I'm trying my best to get her in the new and second hand stuff before she outgrows it. DS1 wasn't so lucky and he was the spewiest of the 3 kids.
Having read all of the replies, I'm now wondering if I'm weird. I don't have designated p.j's or 'day clothes'. DD wears the onesies during the day b/c they're easier to do up and I don't have to bother with socks etc.
