Question how often do your bubs eat meat??

    Hi,

I posted this in the feeding section put thought i might aswell pop it in here too...

well as the title suggests i was wondering how often you feed you bubs meat - red, chiken fish or other protien foods?? and at what time of the day do you give it to them??
someone told me yesterday that you should only give it to them at lunch time and not for dinner, as it is harder to digest? is this true?? whats the best time?

    thanks x

I'll be honest- try as I might, I can't get ds to eat meat at all, ever. Eggs he'll eat sometimes. I give him the iron enriched baby pasta to accomodate for the iron, but I have real trouble getting any protein into him...

So I'm not really much help!

I give Flynn whatever we are eating (within reason, not if it is too spicy) and it usually has meat in it. I can always get hinm to eat mince meat and chicken, others are not so easy. so long as it is small he will eat it but if he has to chew it at all he just spits it out! He's fine with chunky vegies but not meat.
The other protien I give him is baked beans or a piece of french toast for lunch. I also give him tune on a fairly regular basis (usually for luch cos DH doesn't like it!)
i don't know about the digestion thing. i haven't heard it before. I haven't experienced any problems and I have pretty well always fed him like this (with the exception of when we were just starting out with solids)
    Hope this helps.

My little man has some maybe every second day? Or less. I usually just give him the veggie part of our meal just fork mashed. If I give him meat then I have to get out the hand blender, which takes time and effort so doesn't get done very often....Though I made some soup and a caserole the other day which he loved and the meat was soft enough to just fork mash. I've never seen him gobble food down so fast!! But he's still b'fed so I don't really worry much about what he eats specifically, not like I used to with DD because she was formula fed. (Is that bad??) LOL!

dd has meat everyday pretty much for dinner. We rotate it. So she has chicken one night, then next night beef, then the night after fish/tuna. And everynight she has vegies. And then her milk afterwards. I still make her meals and freeze them so it makes it easier to give her meat everynight.

DD1 didn't eat meat until she was over 12 months old - she did eat a lot of lentils though. I am vegetarian and made sure she was getting her protein and iron through other sources so I didn't have any problem with her not eating meat. Even now she doesn't really like it that much and only eats it a couple of times a week at childcare. She never eats it at home. As long as you are giving them other sources it isn't an issue.

My DD does not have any meat. She does not eat much, but what she does eat is vegetarian.
