    child gates

    hi everyone,

im looking for any advice or suggestions on a child gate that can be placed across the entry to my kitchen so i can keep the children/puppy out when im trying to prepare meals etc the problem is it isn't like one doorway to another straight across, it is on a big wide angle that the gate would have to go (from the kitchen cupboards to the wall next to the linen cupboard), is there such a thing ?

    thanks

The two points need to be parallel if you are getting the ones that use outward pressure (no bolts).

Otherwise, if you are willing to drill into the wall, any of the gates could be fixed by a handman with a drill and a trip to the hardware store for a bracket (ask someone who knows what they are doing in a shed). This would be a permanent fixture though.

What about one of the retractable ones? I have only seen them in boxes at Target, but the gate bit looks like it is fabric so I presume the wall fittings wouldn't have to be in line, but could be on an angle

SammyRo: thanks i will go to target and check them out, although with a puppy i suspect we will need something a bit tougher than fabric lol

We've got a Lindam safe & secure playpen that can be used as a gate (and will be once DS starts moving around via crawling - not currently out of the box ). A bit expensive ~$150 at big W but looks like it will cover our living area walkway - used to have some sliding doors that disappeared before we bought the place (around 4-5 m wide)
