    Immunisation and Massage...

    Hi All,

Part of Sam's bedtime routine at night involves a massage (which we both look forward to and enjoy). Somewhere (can't remember where?) I read that it isn't a good idea to massage babies after their immunisations. Does anyone know anything about this? Sam has his needles tomorrow, and I'd hate him to miss out on a massage tomorrow evening (especially if he's feeling a little out of sorts). I can't remember reading anything about the reason behind the advice not to massage after immunisation. If it's just about the site of the injection being sore, I can just be extra careful not to go near it - but if there is some other reason I'd be interested to know...

As far as I am aware, there are no problems associated with massage after immunisation, as long as it doesn't involve vigorous massage of the immunisation site.

I heard that as well, just not to massage the injection site but the rest of his body would be fine.... Good Luck with the immunisations...

massage is also contraindicated if the baby has a temperature.

I woudl just keep an eye on baby, they might not feel like it, and like others said, avoid the injection site as it can get a bit sore there for them.
