Kmart, Big W or Target - Shopping advice

As a very low income family we have shopped at all 3, Target the least of all as it's a bit more expensive...but since the factory collapse in Bangladesh we have decided to re-think our shopping habits, so now for clothes (kids and ours) we're working on phasing out the cheap store items with clothes that haven't been made in sweatshops. Which is hard, and expensive, but we think better in the long run. Probably 40% of the stuff we buy now is from Target or Big W.

I prefer Target. Kmart quality is just not there anymore but okay if you want to buy a $3 t-shirt, just bear in mind that it will only last as long as a $3 t-shirt, ie not long. I have some Target things from DS1 that DS2 wears. My boys are 15 years apart in age, so there's lasting quality.

I shop Target online too. It's easy, home delivered (or local store pickup) and, you can also layby.

I agree that KMart and Big W are mostly for everyday basics and target for that bit better. I got DS some great long cargo pants at KMart last week (long leg length and adjustable waist as he's three but still in size 1's) for $10. Best and Less is also a fave as I've got some nice stuff there for DS. I also try to get to a Pumpkin Patch clearance store for one or two 'good' outfits. For me, Target has some good stuff, though not 'cheap' like they used to be. Target shoes are nice. KMart has some great priced basics too - got a great black cowl necked top for $8. I bypassed their cheap skinny jeans as the size 8's were too small and I've always been a size 6-8....that says more about my waistline than their sizing though

Just a small thing. The Bangladesh factory was making high end fashion items. The sad reality is that you can't guarantee your clothes from any chain store aren't made by workers working in substandard conditions. Nor is it right to say all products/clothes made in Bangladesh are made by workers working in substandard conditions.
