When I picked Miss M up from her daycare this afternoon (2nd last day - woohoo!!) the director there said that they had been trying to make her sit up all day, because she's LAZY and can't do it.
So it got me thinking.. is she lazy? Or just chilled out? I mean, she hardly cries.. doesn't roll yet (not that we have seen).. she turns 360 degree turns on her back though and puts her legs up like she is going to roll over, but doesn't... if you put her down somewhere she's happy just to lay there if you give her a toy - and even if you don't!! She played with the handle of my bag the other day for about half an hour...
We sit her in the bumbo all the time, and she's only JUST started to hold herself towards the back of it so she doesn't fall forward... in 11 days she'll be 6 months old...
I don't know why anyone who cares about a child would call them "lazy"???!!! That's terrible!!
Forget what they think. You're her mum. Do you think she needs more encouragement to do more physical stuff??
Both of my kids weren't crawling at 6 months. They both started at about 7 months, and were walking not long after. Some kids are content and chilled-out, and then once they do manage to get moving they realise "oh wow, check this out!!" and they are off! I say enjoy this time while she's fairly immobile
I mean, DS WAS more noticeably active than she is but still, he didn't sit up on his own until he was 7 months, crawled at 9 and walked at 15 months... so maybe she's following his lead? We thought he was going to crawl early because he was up on his hands and knees from 5 months - but still took him all that time to get going, whereas - she's not anywhere NEAR that... at all... she just.. lays there... so thats the only reason why I would be concerned, cos of the comparison of her brother...
I think that is so stupid calling her lazy- seriously how can a baby be lazy!!! Anyway Mackenzie was/is exactly like your DD -0 chilled and happy to lay about and in no rush to go anywhere! She sat at 6 1/2 months, crawled at nearly 13 months and is only just standing now. It's not because she's physically unable - she just isn't in any great rush to get anywhere!
I would be LIVID if someone did that to my child. Sorry but thats almost abusive. Its like dr's who try and make children crawl by maneuvering their legs roughly to get them "used to it". Every child develops differently and it doesn't mean there is a developmental issue. I once read about a competitive swimmer who said that as a baby she commando crawled yet people say that its a developmental issue, and infers that the child won't have very good co-ordination in later life... well that sure debunked that theory hey? I would make a complaint. Maybe if they spent more time interacting with her she might feel like actually moving around.
i agree how nasty, do they have kids???? oh my no i think thats fine ds3 was over 8 months when he could sit with out falling. she is not laZY i would have been soooo offended.
we totally aint forcing any thing on josh just letting him set the tone if ya know what i mean when he is ready yeah he rolls every now and then and army crawls but only sitting briefly occasonally. But we not worried.
Totally chilled out . We all know that our gorgeous little one's do what they what when they want and we can't make them do anything until they are ready and want to. Your gorgeous little girl is perfect and isn't it great that she is so chilled out that she can entertain herself. DD was exactly the same and now there is no stopping her.
