I think there was a thread similar to this, but I can't find it.
My DS is almost 2 months old and I haven't left him with anyone to go out, etc, - not even my DH. The closest I've had was my mum watching my DS while I had my haircut. It was only for an hour though, and she was in the same shopping complex the hairdresser is in...
I know my DS would be fine being watched by my DH or the grandparents... but I just can't bring myself to even consider leaving him with anyone. And I feel like the longer I leave it the harder it's going to be. I seem to be building it up more and more in my mind.
So... at what age did you first leave bub with someone else? How did you feel about it, how did you cope? Any tips to make it easier? I have some very keen grandparents wanting to babysit!
Make sure you're doing something that keeps you busy!! I left Juliette for the first time (other than with daddy) three weeks ago & was fine until we sat down for dinner then I had time to think. I was at my friend's hens night that I had organised so was nice & busy but once I sat down to rest & have dinner I was thinking about her & wanting to go home!
Oh I remember the first time I left DD and I was trying to get home so quickly, it does get easier though. I have only been out for a maximum of an hour to do groceries but start with a little trip maybe to go up to get a loaf of bread. Remember to take your phone and then you can always be contacted. You will be fine hun. Big to you
Thanks for your replies. That's a good idea starting with small trips. I might try that first... my mum has been telling me and DH to go to the movies, but I don't feel ready for that just yet.
I know I shouldn't, but I feel guilty for denying my parents the chance to babysit, cause they (especially my mum) want to so much.
I left my DS with his Nana at our house to get to the Dr when he was only 5 days old, I was gone for maybe half an hour tops and hated every second of it!! DH had to come with me cos I couldnt drive then.
Since then, DS has only been left with my hubby while I do groceries. Today I was out for nearly two hours and I didnt rush as much as last time because DH loves the one on one time with his little man. Im definately not ready to leave DS with anyone but his Daddy for now tho!
Aw, it took me MONTHS to leave Natty. I think the first time we went out and left her with a relative was when she was 4 months old.
You've got to be comfortable with it. If you feel like you'd like to give your parents some time with bubs, there's no reason why you have to leave him to do so. You could have them come over and entertain him while you do stuff around the house that you can't get done otherwise... Like cooking or cleaning or having a sleep. I am sure they'd be chuffed with that.
Wait til you're ready to go out and leave him. Don't feel guilty about the parents... When he's a little older they'll be babysitting HEAPS, lol.
I havent left Ds alone with anyone except for Dh. I am still b/feeding so the longest i have been away was 2 hours. I went shopping for new clothes and tbh i enjoyed myself although i did feel alittle lost not having a pram to push around. Ds was about 7 weeks when i first did this. I call every time i leave him with Dh, not because i dont trust him, i know he is completely safe and happy but because i want to lol.
I proably feel like i could leave him with my sister for a few hours now if i had a reason to but i havent needed to yet. I have only just started to feel this way though
DD is 8 months and i have only ever left her while she has been sleeping and im normally back by the time she wakes up!! and only ever with DH. DH sometimes takes her out for walks in the mornings for half an hour, but she loves her morning walks and i get to have a shower in peace so i dont mind that!! lol
