Little girls and long hair
Just a question that crossed my mind last night when DD crashed with her hair still in pigtails..
Do you send your little girls to bed with their hair tied up, platted? Or do you have it free flowing?
Just interested to know, cause when I had really long hair, I used to find having it platted helped to keep it detangled, but with DD, I have always insisted on having no ties it in for bed time (day sleeps included).

Kayla's isn't long enough to plait. But I've been thinking her hair is getting long enough to get annoying when she turns over and has it all over her face LOL. So not sure what to do with it. I don't remember my hair being routinely plaited at night.. only if I ever wanted it wavy the next day. My hair was half way down my back. It did get tangled, but I don't think I fussed when it was being brushed. I guess if they hate having their hair brushed then plaiting is the way to go to avoid the tears later.

I tend to take out hair ties too. DD has long hair and sometimes I have trouble with it getting matted but just don't like the idea of her sleeping with her hair tied up.

We have always put DD1's hair up for bed and now it is always plaited as it is too long and curly for anything else.

I hate having my hair tied for sleep so I always take out DDs ties too.
I know I get a headache if my hair is up when I sleep. V has her's out...yes looks like a birds nest in the morning sometimes but hey thats what detangling spray is for

It has only been the last 2 months or so, that she will let me brush it every day. And with the heat, I have been able to tie it up off her neck.
I was away on the weekend with some family, and my cousin tied her DD's hair back, and I was also brushing a birds nest from my niece's hair while SIL was at work..
It is so soft and silky it falls out of a plait quickly, but she didn't seem to mind it tied up. I don't do it tightly cause she never stays still long enough, LOL.

when dd was younger we put it in a low loose pony tail or plait
as for me with hair to my bum i cant sleep with it up up gives me headaches along with wet hair at night. I sleep with a very loose pony tail so it doesnt get in my face at night and i stretch it out across the pillow when i sleep other wize i swallow it in my sleep.
When my hair is all out it mats and i get all strangled in it and it gets caught under my armpits when i roll and makes for an uncomfortable night especially if it gets in my mouth or my neck in the front.. I cant imagine it being much different for a child, my hair is just past the top of my bottom.

Mum kept our hair really long, at one stage it got down to my bum! I don't remember it being plaited all the time, and it never really bothered me when I slept. Mum used to mix some conditioner with water in a spray bottle for really bad knots, but mostly we just assumed everyones hair got knotty!

i hate sleeping with my hair up so i just assumed that DD would too lol so DD has her hair out for bed but hers is still so fine that is doesnt really knot yet

I always take Livi's hair out at night.. I also leave it down when we are at home and not going anywhere.. If it gets in her face to much I will put it up but lately I have been trying to get her to keep hairclips in or wear a headband..

Mum had my long hair untied for nights and whinged about the knots in the morning.
When I was older I heard about tying hair back for sleep. I did it then and whenever my hair is long enough to pull back I do it now!
Depends on the child's hair. Fine hair, no knots, don't bother. Thick hair, knots, just tie it back (very loose braid is good) and make life easier on all of you.

yep u got it right i have thick hair dd has thick hair and ds has fine hair but all long. both ds and dd have hair half way down back and myself past my bottom
