when do you wake up?? (newborn - 3 mnth)

    hi all
a few questions - what time do you all get up, ie when does your bub wake up for the 'final' time in a night? noah seems to be v hard to get back to sleep after the 5am ish feed, is this normal? he is only 3 wks and this has started in the last few days. is there any way to 'manipulate' this so he gives us just an hour or so more... (i know this is prob wishful thinking!!). as an example last night he fed at 8.30, 10.50, 3.30, woke at 5.30 to be changed and then fed at about 6.15 and then would not go back to sleep. should i try putting him to bed later, say 9.30 instead of 8.30? (we have a night time ritual starting). or is it, like i suspect, just life with a newborn and i better get used to it?? LOL
    any advice/suggestions welcome..

Pregpan, I have found with all my babies that if I sleep with them, then they either go back to sleep, or I can at least snooze while they are happy to lay awake in my arms. Sometimes you can manipulate it by keeping them awake longer at night but this doesn't always work either LOL. Sometimes they just wake early too, but I know you don't want to hear that

I found that if I slept with DD she would usually drift back to sleep for 40min-1hr sometimes, or she'd just play by herself, but we were still up by 6ish. Now she's decided 5am is a good time to get up and I'm NOT happy!! I thought 6 was early...
I tied putting her to bed later but it never worked it just meant that I got less quiet time at the end of the day and she was overtired cause she got less sleep.

Actually if you put bub to bed earlier it can sometimes work. It's all about sleep cycles and if bub is coming out of a sleep cycle at 5amish and the light is starting to come in the window they often decide to start their day. Putting them to bed earlier will often mean they are in the middle of a sleep cycle at dawn and will stay asleep a little longer. We used to put our DS to bed at around 7-7.30 and he would get up at around 6.30-7ish (didn't sleep through the night though!) He now goes to bed at around 7.30-8ish and sleeps through to anywhere from 6.15-7am.

DS sleeps from his bath then feed then sleep routine starting anywhere between 630-730pm and sleeps til 12ish (sometimes before sometimes after), then wakes every 2 hrs from then (2, 4) and then again about 5:30 and either lie there, or want to play til about 730. He decided this routine... Im happy to go with whats good for him
