    name labels for clothes etc

    Hi there.

Let me just start by saying that I am seriously tired and not sure if I am putting this in the right spot, so if there is somewhere else more appropriate then maybe one of the mods would be good enough to move it right along? Thanks!

I am looking at getting labels for DS' clothes and drink bottles etc. We spend a lot of time out and about with other kiddies, and he will be going to day care soon enough, so will definately need to get it done for that.

What company did you use for your labels, or did you just use Dymo labels? DH said he could make me up some Dymo labels at work. Correct me if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure they aren't dishwasher, microwave and washing machine proof.

Don't know whether he is being a bit of a tighty or whether I am spending money on gimmicks.

    Thanks everyone.

We have stuck on you labels and absolutely love them... I just ordered some for me for my work stuff!!!!

We initially tried Dymo labels as DH had the machine at work - we just bought the tape for the clothes and used the sticker ones his work already had. The sticky labels went black (originally yellow with black writing) when I put the bottles through the steriliser. So they got binned (the labels - not the bottles!). The clothes labels were a little better. I had to stand with the iron on them for 3 or 4 minutes to get them to stick. Surprisingly, they didn't come out in the first wash! Actually, DD has been going to child care since July and her sleep buddy still has his original name tag on him!!! But, the ones on the clothes did come off slowly, especially if washed in warm water. I haven't actually sewn or ironed in the ones from Stuck on You so can't comment about whether or not they're any better. I might task MIL to put them in DD's clothes whilst she is here for her 2 weeks!!!!

From what ive been told by my sister who has 3 kids, the best thing is a permanent marker. Its horrible to say, but there are parents out there who will just remove a lable and keep the clothing.

I got Identikid ones for Xmas for my DD and the person who gave them to us says they were great for her kids. But I haven't gotten around to putting them on yet!

We got the ones for drink bottles and wipes etc. from That's mine - pretty similar to other companies but nicer designs I thought!

I think the issue with other paretns ripping tags off would happen at school more than anywhere else. Being a school teacher you are always dealing with kids losing their jumpers and parents yelling at us because their child's BRAND NEW jumper was taken!! I would be putting on labels as well as something hidden (like a stitch of coloured cotton) so when looking through all the kids tops you can identify them! Sounds crazy but seriously after having parents yell at me this is what I would do!

I get mine from Identity Direct. You can get packs that contain a combination of labels for clothes, lunch boxes etc.
