    Moving nap-time & its effects

    Hi everyone,

My DS is nearly 16mo, and has been on one nap a day for about 3 months. I used to give him morning tea at 10.30, put him down at 11am and by 11.30am he'd be asleep. I'd then give him lunch somewhere between 1-2pm depending on when he woke up. He'd go down at night by 6.30pm, and up for the day around 6.30am.

Just the last few days I've changed his routine to be more inline with his daycare, and also what most other people I know do... to have lunch at 11.30am, down at 12pm and asleep by 12.30pm, and pushed his bedtime to 7pm. BUT, as soon as I started doing this I noticed he now wakes around 5.30am. I know its only an hour, but its an hour of sleep I'd rather have!! So, now he's actually getting less sleep overall than he used to be.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

If your routine works and you are getting that extra hours sleep then stick with it. He will alter it soon enough when he stops having a day sleep everyday.

I used to put the girls down at about 11.30 after a early lunch and they would wake about 2. This was the time I could get alot of things done around the house and have luch with no interuptions.

Do what works for you at home.
