    My 10 month old shakes...

My 10 month old DS first started doing this several months ago but then stopped so i actually forgot about it but over last couple of weeks its started again.

He clenches his jaw and fists and then his whole body shakes like its vibrating (i dont know how else to explain it). It lasts for about 10-15 seconds each time. It seems to happen more often when he's in his highchair but happens other times as well.

Im starting to get a bit scared as its happening more often now. I just fed him and he did it about 10 times in 15 minutes.

Is this normal behaviour? Should i be taking him to the doctors for it? Has anyone else's bub done this?

I've no idea. To be completely honest, it doesn't sound normal to me to do it that frequently. But then I don't really know.

I would probably ask the GP if it were me.

to be honest my son doesnt do this (also 10 months - nearly) and if he did I KNOW I would be going to the gp.
that said a friend of mine's ds was doing it also - i saw it as we stayed togeher for a few days - and she left it and it seems to have gone away. it happened most when she was trying to feed him (solids)
imo it cant hurt to go to gp and be told it is nothing to be concerned about

i would probably go to the gp too. i have heard of some children doing a similar shaky thing but not so frequently and for so long. does his gaze become glazed over when this is happening? if you talk to him does he respond or only once he has stopped shaking? really it could be anything from seizure to stress to habit to experimenting so i reckon you should take him to the doctor just for peace of mind.

He looks at me while he's doing it but just has a look of concentration on his face. If i copy him, he smiles but still keeps doing it and if i say "dont do that" (to try and get a reaction/make it stop) he just looks confused and then stops a couple of seconds later.

My DS does this to get a laugh out of us. Has been doing it since he was 6 months. I didn't take him to the doc because if we laughed at him, he would laugh back at us.. so just thought he was being a bit of a silly billy.. lol

Although, if you are worried, take him to the GP... it can't hurt.

yeah i dunno, i reckon if you are worried at all then there is no harm in getting it checked out. it will probably end up as nothing, just a little thing he has found that he can do, but at least then you can stop worrying about it. :-)
