Well Maggie managed to find the Vicks Baby Balsam, open it and rub 1 a tub through her hair I have washed it atleast 30 times with baby shampoo and with my shampoo, which is a deap cleansing one, and it has not washed out completely.
Does anyone have any tips on how to get it out. It is just awful and her hair is all globby!
ok a friend of mine had her twins smear vasoline all through their hair. Similar type of product i guess. In the end she got an orange oil degreaser from the hardware shop. She went to the chemist and they were the ones that put her onto the degreaser.
HTH and good luck
Thanks for that, I was wondering about some kind of degreaser, failing that I was thinking of calling Greenpeace and asking what they cleaned the penquins with after an oil spill. I did have some orange oil for removing sticky stuff, but it is quite old, so I probably should buy another if I am going to try that one.
Have just tried a different Google search and looks as though cornpowder will help absorb the greasiness before washing again. It does look as though I stuffed it up in the first place though, I should have tried to comb as much out as possible before washing, but she did it whilst I was in the shower, so I just dragged her in once I saw what she had done.
Astrid, I am a dog groomer and this may sound weird, but if any dogs come in with greasy hair, usually from ear drops etc, then I have found washing in Velvet Soap really helps. You can get it from the supermarket I think.... Also baby powder works a treat too at absorbing the excess grease..
Thanks for the tips so far. Ended up putting some bicarb in her hair (it was all I had on hand) and let it absorb some of the greasiness, then when I shampooed I let it sit for a while and let it soak in. That seems to have helped. It is still greasy, but no where near as bad. Will probably give her hair a trim anyway just to get rid of any damaged ends as it has been through a lot.
Not sure how well the soap would work, I found when I tried to wash it off my hands soap did nothing, but the shampoo actually did get it off, maybe it was just the soap I was using.
