Exclamation Transfering from rear to front facing

My 2nd bub is due soon.....and will be going into Chelsea's seat....we have another for her.

What im wondering is...do i need to move her a few weeks/days (or whatever) into her new seat before bub comes...

I just dont want her thinking that she is being kicked out cos some one else needs her seat.... or at her age she wont know any different??

I want her to get used to the seat i guess.

What would you do....or did u do if you have been in this position before?

Kim, I don't she'll know any different as in someone else in her seat at the moment. The seat you are transferring her to, can it be used rear facing or not? If so, I'd just do that. If not and you're worried about her not liking facing forward, maybe just give her a few short trips around the block or something to start with so she gets used to it. She should be fine though as from what people say they like seeing in front of them anyway.

Kim - We had tori in her new seat for about 2 weeks before charlotte came along nad there was no issues! Tori thought it was great having her new seat!

Jack was older but I made sure he'd moved car seats and out of the cot at least 2 months before Thomas was due. But then Thomas was a month early anyway, and it didn't matter because Jack didn't care at all that Thomas was using his old ones. He didn't bat an eyelid - and he happily calls the cot and seat "Thomas' " all the time. I think sometimes we expect them to have adult feelings that they just don't have. So what I'm saying is that I don't think it made any difference in our case, so hopefully it wouldn't for you either.

I agree...I haven't had any problems with Louis because he's been getting all new and exciting things anyway. In saying that I did move him into his new car seat a little in advance but thats just because we put the other one back the capsule way in preperation for Dylans arrival. I can't remember but it only would have been a 3-4 weeks anyway.
I suppose it just depends if she's ready to go forward facing...I think we put Louis forward facing around 8-9 months so I'm sure she'll love it!!
I think the younger they are the less attached they are iykwim??

Sorta off the topic, but my aunty is having her second mid to late september, and her first is 18 months old atm. What they were planning was to get her used to her big bed (ordinary single) at least a month before her sister arrives. As she'll be at the age of attachment to things. They also just bought a new carseat for #2 and my cousin will stay in hers.

Ill be doing the same with the bed when Chelsea is around that age cos bub will need her cot....unless bub gets to big for the cradle super fast then ill have to re think the plan!
