Question Need Advice for transitioning toddler out of our room!

Ok so yes I have left it a bit longer than we anticipated....

Mason is still in our room and we really need him settled into his own room before this bub comes along.

Whats the best way to do this? Any advice/hints/tips are very much welcome!

No advice but I'm watching this thread with interest as we are going to try to get DS in his own room in the New Year.

Lol, Oskar is still in our room too!! To be honest, I actually really like it that way and even joked (well half joked) to DH that we will need to move the chests or draws out of our room into Oskar's room (which will be a baby/toddler change type room...hehe) so that we can put Oskar's cot at the end of the bed and the baby in the hammock next to me... no probs I reckon!! I like Oskar being nearby especially if he has a night fright or is teething etc cos I can settle him quickly and sometimes it's just because he's sat up and can't see and needs a little light to lay down again and off to sleep... if you're happy with it and have the room then I wouldn't worry.

Oh cass, i wish i was as brave as you!! I really like having Mason in my room and as you said, it is SOOOO Much easier to settle him as some nights he does wake often just to make sure we are still there

I wonder if anyone else has had a toddler and baby in the master bedroom? Would the newborn wake the toddler?

I'll be watching this thread too as we're finally about to fix our second bedroom so that DD can move into it.

BUT it might not be as tricky as I thought because we went away for four nights last week and DD slept in a separate room. Her day sleep was a bit dodgy but at night she was absolutely fine.

We also have a single bed in what will be her room so I'm figuring that if she takes some time to adjust, I'll pop into that bed for however long. I think actually that it will be me who has problems adjusting, not DD and I can see me still sleeping in her room when she's seven!

If you want to move him, it will be easier the earlier you do it in terms of him not resenting the bub for taking "his place" in your room. Does that make sense?

Id do a themed room too, with something he lies and make it really special cos he is a big boy and going to be a big brother etc. He needs to feel safe in there.

If you are in a situation where there is more than one bedroom to choose from, letting him choose (assumng he copes OK with choices) between 2 may also help.
