Normal toothbrush or Electic - whats the best?

I have a 3.5yr old and a 20 month old and they are HORRIBLE when it comes to brushing teeth. My 20 month old is the worst and will only do it on his own unless we hold him down and brush them properly ourselves which is really distressing. This is why I was wondering if an electric toothbrush would be better for him? My 3.5yr old has one and he walks around for ages brushing his teeth. If we give him a normal toothbrush he just does a basic scrub and gives up Does anyone else have this problem? Have you heard if electric is better and do they clean better than a normal toothbrush?

I finally got my daughter brushing her teeth by changing to electric... we were in a state of desperation as she had to have day surgery as she had started to form small cavies in her back teeth and that wasnt much fun

I actually have heard that electric brushes do clean teeth better than normal brushes...
We have an electric, but I have never considered getting a brush head for Aidyn... is there a difference between the kids electric toothbrushes and the adults?
I would be worried that the vibrations etc though would be a bit much for a 20months old teeth/gums?

We had a lot of problems getting our DD to brush properly until we got her one of those character battery operated toothbrushes - they're great she has no problem cleaning her teeth now and they do a better job than she would herself.

electric brushes do a better job than manual!!!
for kids you can get ones that play music to get kids motivated to brush
