    Question Is it ok to....

...let my DD go to bed with a hat on...?

I know when she first came home i was told no hats, as babies draw their temps from their head.... but is it ok now??

She is waking up cold and i thought if she was warmer with a hat it would help.

I've always been "taught" not to put hats on sleeping babies as it can be an easy way for them to overheat. Much better to put an extra layer of clothing on her or an extra cotton blanket. Then if she's too hot she can let heat escape via her uncovered head. xx

Maybe one of those really thin hats Kim opposed to a thick or wooly hat? I mean it would be freezing at your house.. i can only assume that your little might would be bloody cold!

What does she wear to bed?
Last night DS wore a singlet, long sleeved bodysuit, flanellette pjs and a 2.5tog grobag.

the other main place people (adults also lose about 80% heat through their head) maintain/lose heat is their feet - does Chelsea wear socks to bed, or pjs with feet in them? If not this might be a place to start.

I'd start with more clothing & socks before putting something on bubs head.

She wears a Wondersuit and singlet plus a sleeping bag...(not one of them fancy ones.. just a Target brand one) that has long sleeves. Chelsea hates socks and never keeps them on no matter what!

She woke up so cold last ngiht she ended up in our bed...kicking DH out so she had room and she slept wondeful then....was nice and toasty warm..lol.

Maybe put some socks on underneath her wondersuit, that way she can't get them off?

Are the target sleeping bags warmth/temperature - there are much cheaper brands than grobag (living textiles is one) that make sleeping bags and they're temperature rated. I haven't seen the target ones, they may well be.

Maybe try a pair of pjs over the wondersuit?
