Question Paediatric Dentist -- anyone been?

I have made Milo and appt to see a paediatric dentist, as I am a bit worried about one of his front teeth -- it looks like ther is a red line running all the way across the back of it and I am not sure whats going on.

I am petrified of dentists myself, and its only that I met this woman at the BB showbag packing for the Expo that I am confident to take him to see her.

Is it just like a normal dentist? I am really freaking out that we should have been cleaning his teth better or that I've done something really wrong!

My SIL is a hygienist and is freaky about teeth She recently took her daughter (nearly 2) for her first checkup. It was just about familiarisation, the chair, the room etc. He didn't even look in her mouth!!
I think the biggest thing will be you staying calm. Milo will pick up if you are stresesed and he will misbehave! So take a deep breath, and as long as you haven't been feeding him lollies by the truckload, and juice out of a bottle, I'm sure he will be OK.

God no! he has barely had any juice ever, he only started drinking it about 3 weeks ago, from a cup. And lollies are a rarity, and then only when someone other than DH and I sneaks them in with out us knowing.

I don't know about pediatric dentists but we also just took DS for his first visit to the dentist (while DH and I went for check ups too). The dentist was great. DH went in with Jack while I waited in the waiting room with the baby. Apparently the dentist easily put Jack at ease and he opened his mouth when asked and was happy for the mirror to be put in etc. He loved the experience, especially when he was given a sticker and a tooth brush! Now he asks to go back to the dentist LOL!! I am sure Milo will be fine too.

Thanks, that is great to know, and kind of what I figured would be the case, but its so much of a relief to hear it from someone who has been there first hand!

I have been to one with Ris. They specialise in kids and those I have met so far have all been fantastic. Kar Mun is awesome, so you are in good hands there

I had to take Mackenzie to the dentist about 8 months ago after she chipped her tooth in the bath. I hate the Dentist myself and he was just fantastic, infact they stayed open for me and they didn't rush us and were 100% focused on making it a pleasent experience. We had to return 2 weeks later to see if we could fix it and after a few minutes it wasn't going to happen so he didn't push it. He contacted a peds dentist in ringwood for a second opinion who suggested we wait another 12 months to try and fix it. We booked for a 45 minutes appointment the second time around and they didn't charge us a cent even though we were there for 10 minutes. They are in Mooroolbark which is a mile away from you but if anyone else in the area is in need they are just near the train station in Mooroolbark and the dentists name is Adam. He didn't believe in holding/gas/ etc and I can't sing his praises enough. Your local dentist should be able to help you and if not refer you to a peds dentist in your area.
