    Question Pinching

Hi all...I just wondered if anyone has had trouble with bubs pinching? My little man is constantly pinching me (& everyone else)...I know he's not doing it to cause pain or anything but it does hurt (and I now have bruises on my boobies even!)... I don't know what the best way to tackle this one is...how do I teach him that he shouldn't pinch?? Or is he too young to learn that it's 'naughty'?

    Thanks in advance!

Hmmm, don't know sorry! Natalie has just started pinching my boobs while feeding - I hear lots of babies do it, but IKWYM about it *really* hurting!!! I'll be interested in hearing what others have to say about it!

Sherie - Jake has just started pinching too!
Apparently they are too young to know they are doing the wrong thing it's just part of their pincer grip development. That doesn't make explaining the bruises on my bbs and arms any easier!

Yeah Riley just started by pinching my boobs a few months back but now he pinches everything...arms, neck, face...whatever skin he can get...

Don't you love being bashed by your baby - pinched, head butted - what other job has these perks!!!

Haha, yeah we were only just talking about head butting last night...we often get little bruises from our little man banging our heads... Seems to leave more of a mark on us than him. The bruises on the boobies are the things that I find the worst...they definitely take a beating... These bubs are such little ratbags...

He is too young to understand that it's naughty, and it is normal. BUT you do need to teach him that it's not ok, or he won't stop doing it later. I would hold his hand when he's done it and say no in a firm voice. I would also explain that it hurts so it's not nice to pinch other people as we don't want to hurt them. Also try not to say "ow" when he does it (easier said than done I know) so that it doesn't encourage him.

Thanks Melaine! I have tried saying "ow" but he laughs at that for some reason...he thinks it's funny when I say it and then does it again?!?! He's so cheeky! I will definitely try holding his hand though and saying "no" in a firm voice.

I say "Ouchie! That hurts Mummy. Let go please." Then I remove his hand ahnd say "Thank you." He now removes his hand with just an "Ouchie!" but it doesn't stop him doing it in the first place.

I have done what Melanie suggested... just be consistent with it and say 'no pinching' 'pinching hurts people' etc
