Question about Grobag and other types of sleeping bags

    Hi

We have found its gettting really cold at night and so we were thinking about getting a Grobag for Claire. I have something similar to a grobag already for her, but its massive and way too big for her..

So I want to get a smaller one, probably the 2.5 tog, in her size (0-6 month size?). Just had a few questions re them.

    - did your baby get used to it quickly? Claire cracks it when I wrap her but the grobag is not as tight as a wrap is it?

    - I think I read that it is just cotton... so, can you wash it in the washing machine?

    - specifically the 0-6 month one, if anyone has one can you tell me how long it is pls? I cant find any info on how long they actually are. I dont want to get it and find Claire is too long for it.

also just another random question, do you use a thermometer in your babys room?

    thanks

Hi Karina, I am a huge grobag advocate and have used them for both my girls. Marley went straight into the grobab after I stopped wrapping her and she was fine with it. They are quite lose fitting, not liked being wrapped. They are cotton and you can machine wash them and put them in the dryer (which is a bonus in winter). If you check out their website, I think it has the measurements. They are quite long. I don't use a thermometer but my GF bought one from Grobag and its brilliant. It is shaped like an egg and it glows a blue colour if the room is too cold, red if too hot and a yellow if the temp is right. Try googling Grobag. I bought my last two from Bumpto3 (distrubutors of the Grobag) but their Asian website, they were only $43 each which inc delivery, which is almost half price. I joined their mailing list and I would check that out too as they may still have some half price. It is handy having 2, so you don't have to stress about washing/drying one quickly. Marley sleeps in hers for day sleeps too and has absolutely no other blankets in the bed and that keeps her nice and toasty!

Sorry for the long winded reply, I hope it helps!

    thanks for your replies!

    I'll check out Bumpto3.

Caro, DH likes the pirates one and even though its a "boy" one we'll probably get it if we do get one lol.

Claire is about 64cm long. I hope she doesnt grow out of the smallest one too soon? Maybe I should get the next size up? I dont know! I'm so clueless

Was looking at the grobags the other day, ended up just getting a velcro wrap thing instead. They were confusing me with the clothing recommendations. And Patrick's head is often sweaty when I pick him up, but if I remove his bonds suit thingy then he cries and I suspect its cause he's cold.

I agree with Caro, the 6-18 month one will be MASSIVE - Aidyn went into that size at about 8 months, and it was sooo roomy. Remember the 0-6month grobag is 70 cm, and it only goes from her shoulders down, so if her total length is 64 (incl neck & head!) then she still will have plenty of room.

I like the fact that they don't have sleeves - it gives you more options on how to dress them depending on the weather.

Jesse has been in grobags since he was about 9 weeks old. He started to go through a phase where he would pull blankets over his head so theyve been really good.

Yeh we had him in the 0-6 month ones to start.. then when he started getting too small for them, at first putting him in the 6-18 looked huge! But hse's slowly growing into them. Id go for the 0-6 definately to start with.

If youre going to get them from the Bump website, make sure you look through any baby magazines you have as they usually have promo codes in them that will save you $5-$10 or so.

thanks ladies. I think I'll just get the 0-6 month one and hope its not too short too soon. I just got confused cos it says "maximum child length 68cm" so i thought she might grow out of it too quickly.
