    Sleeping longer, feeding less

The paranoia of being a new mum never stops DS has only had 2 feeds so far today and I am worried he's not going to get enough! This last week I have been really fortunate in that he has been sleeping from around 10pm to anywhere between 4am and 6am. Usually, the last few weeks he has been feeding roughly every 2.5-3 hours and gets maybe up to 1 hour sleep between feeds in the morning and afternoon.

Today he slept right through to 6am, he had a big feed and went back to sleep until 10 where he had another feed, we had a bit of play for around an hour, and he's been asleep now for just over 2 hours. So, he went overnight without a feed, and has gone 4 hours between feeds so far today.

    Is this normal?

I'm in two minds, let him sleep because they need it or wake him up to feed him because he needs that too! Am I just being a worry wort?

Worrying is what we do best
DS was like that when he was younger too. If he's hungry he'll let you know. Although if you feel he needs more to eat just wake him up & offer it to him, if he's hungry he'll take it.
Could he be coming down with a bit of a cold or something? Could be why he's sleeping a little more...

How is your DS going? I just wanted to say if you are worried that he is ill then take him to a GP. Otherwise he may just be settling into a new pattern. If he is well then he will wake when he is thirsty and need a drink. I don't think you need to wake him at this age for drinks- he is past the newborn stage. Hope he is well.

Providing he's having plenty of wet nappies and is alert (when awake) and happy, then I wouldn't worry too much.
He could be just setting a new feed/sleep pattern. Emily is now sleeping 12 hours overnight without a feed. Last feed 7pm, wakes at 7am. And feeds roughly every 3 hours during the day, which is about 5 feeds in total.
So sounds pretty normal to me.

Thanks girls...I am just extra worried about him getting enough because of all the weight gain issues we've had. He does seem happy and alert and wakes for feeds, plenty of wet and pooey nappies so I can only assume he is getting enough.

He's still sleeping through from around 10pm to 6:30ish, I'm beginning to think he has got a new pattern going on but I still go to bed every night expecting to get up to him
