My baby is 5 weeks old and seems to be suffering from bad colic and reflux.
Our GP thought he had reflux and suggested we put him on Mylanta (1ml) which we tried for about a week but this didn't seem to help him much. I disagreed and thought our little one had colic not reflux so i been giving him Gripe Water for the past few days, this helps a little, i think
Now i think he does suffer from Reflux as well as Colic so i was wondering if it was safe for me to give my baby Mylanta AND Gripe Water? Mylanta can only be given every 6 hours and the Gripe water i give it to him before every night time feed - usually every 2 hours. and then only maybe once in the middle of the day as you can only give it to them 6 times in 24 hours. If i do decide to give him both remedies, i would probably give each thing at different times so they are not both in his belly at the same time.
Is that ok? I don't want to overload his little body with too much...
I am not sure about giving both together, but I wanted to say that if you still think your baby has reflux and the mylanta is not working well, go back to the GP and ask to try something else. My DS had reflux and he was started on Mylanta which made a difference for the first couple of days and then it kinda wore off. I went back to the GP and he went on to Zantac, which once again made some difference but not heaps, eventually he was put onto Losec and he was like a new baby.
I also thought my DS had colic and not reflux, but once his reflux was under control his 'colic' symptoms disapeared.
