    i have a cold

i am breast feeding and have found that i have gotten a cold! runny then blocked nose, headache etc. what can i take to get rid of the blocked nose, it is making it hard to sleep. can i use a nasal spray? normally i would take day and night tablets but i am sure thats a no no....
must i suffer through until it goes on its own accord?

Me too - I'm suffering with you. Unfortunatly there's not much you can take, if you go to the chemist and ask they'll tell you what you can. You could try Eucky bear rub - I got that for DS and just drink lots of water. If bubs gets the cold you'll need to give extra feeds so keeping fluids up is extra important.

Dr Karl (triple J) says you can treat a cold and it'll be gone in 7 days or do nothing and it'll be gone in a week.

yeah unfortunately while you're breastfeeding there's hardly anything for you to take. It'll just have to take it's course. I remember having that for about 2 weeks until it was completely gone, the whole time not being able to take anything except Panadol! Hopefully bubby won't get it.

I have just had a cold too but fortunately Sari didnt get it.. on a positive note they say that when you are breast feeding and get a cold, the baby gets all your good cold fighting antibodies!

That's what I keep telling myself when I cough and sniff all night long - at least Natalie is getting some good stuff from me to ward off the bad stuff she might catch

ETA In terms of clearing the nose, are those cough lollies ok? The ones with menthol?
