    Red face Swallowed kids toothpaste

Ok - don't know if this is dumb or not, but my DD (we think) has just swallowed maybe about a teaspoon of kids toothpaste . Should I be concerned? I know they swallow it anyway when brushing their teeth....at least we try to get her to not swallow it, but just wondered if I should be concerned that she's swallowed a lot at once.

I'm sure she's fine but just wondered what damage (if any) fluoride can do?

She should be fine... kids toothpaste has reduced flouride anyway. I have heard many a story of kids getting hold of the tube and eating it LOL.

Amy, flouride is toxic, but as Ambah said there is not much in the kid's toothpaste so I wouldn't worry. In fact our dentist suggested that Jack SHOULD swallow some as we don't have flouride in our water and it is good for some to be ingested. Rest easy, I'm sure she will be fine.

    Ambah is spot on

while kids shouldnt eat the toothpaste...kids varieties are made with just this idea in mind

have you thought about switching to a 'natural' toothpaste...no chemicals...i am using one at the moment and it tastes just like kids toothpaste
