scared ... baby choked on vomit
DD has been vomitting really bad before she goes to sleep for 2 nights in a row now. She has also been having some separation anxiety (ie will not sleep in cot unless i was in the room).
She's 15mths. I think she is teething again and has a cold. Will definitely take DD to the docs if this repeats itself.
Last night, she slept in my arms and i put her in her cot.
About 10 mins later I hear total choking noise from the baby monitor and i go in and DD is choking as she has vomitted all over her bed and her head and self and was choking on her vomit and seemed like she was going purple.
I quickly picked her up and rubbed her back to get all the vomit back out.
Now the scenes keeps playing in my head "what if the monitor wasnt in and she choked to death?"
I'm so scared ...
How can I stop this from happening again? Will a pillow work?
Is she generally unwell, or is it because she doesn't want to be left alone?
You could try putting her cot at an angle by placing some books under one end of the cot legs, so she isn't lying completely flat.
Other than that, try not to stress. The monitor WAS on because you are an attentive mummy and DD is very lucky to have you. Also remember that babies and small children have excellent gag reflexes (much better than ours...I learnt it in First Aid). My DD used to spew on herself all the time as a small bub, and I would often pick her up and there would be vomit in her hair and on her bed and I hadn't even heard her spew!!!
Hugs to you...and I hope it resolves itself quickly.
