Well its been a few days since I posted in this thread so thought I would come back to report Kye slept for 2 hours this morning from 915am till 11am ... omg couldnt believe it and at the moment he is in his swing and has been asleep since 4:00pm but I am guessing he will wake up very shortly starving haha

Starbright - thanks for your post! It's nice to know that I am not the only one in this situation. One stage I got beyond frustrated (hence why I started the thread) I just could not figure out why he was waking himself up. I trialled a few things - I started to wrap him up again which seemed to work.
He has had a belly ache the past day which hasnt been helping his night time sleeping. Last night was very broken, I had to get up to him 3 times

Satya - re: where baby sleeps. I'm with you - Kye prefers to be around the house during the day. My mentality is as long as he is sleeping I dont care where he is

Tan2705 - I took your advice and went and brought "sleeping like a baby". I havent finished reading of all it yet but man it has certainly given me more of an insight, thanks heaps for the recommendation!!

Trish - I tried your trick of resettling him by patting him, it seems to work after a feed during the night

Thank-you sasha!! lol Reading all the advice you were given has helped me already!!

My little man has a 35 minute sleep cycle- by doing the bouncing thing when he started to stir- i had an AMAZING morning.. he slept from 9:30-1 with a stir every half hour or so which i bounced away!! He was awake then for a bit over an hour- and went down quite easily- but as i type this i am of course jinxing myself because his eyes have opened!! And no bouncing is helping!! lol Mind you he isnt being cranky- he seems quite content to lay there- oh eyes are closing again!!!

hahahaah We will see how we go!!! At least he isnt crying!!!

That's awesome Sasha! You're doing great, keep up the good work . They're little mysteries these babies! I found day naps to be one of the trickiest things (if not the trickiest LOL)!

Starbright - I'm so happy to hear you're having some success today! When you say "bounce" do you use a hammock or are you holding him? I'm glad it's working for you! Catching the end of the sleep cycle was the trick for us.

Trish.. I have him in a bouncer- i was a bit hesitant to use it all the time though- coz i am worried he is not laying flat on his back and it might not be good for his back.. but he seem to like it much better than his bassinette- i do try and put him in the bassinette for at least one sleep a day and for his night sleep from 6-12 - but i must admit i find the convieniance of having him in the bouncer works for me coz he is right beside the bed and easy to put back to sleep after a feed (back to my other trouble of moving him off me after falling asleep!! Its easier to lean down and place him in the bouncer than get up and walk to the bassinette) - and then he is right there if he does stir i just bounce him back to sleep.
I have also started using a new bfeeding position where i lay down on my bed and he lays beside me and feeds and then when he falls asleep i leave him on my bed- again so he is having a sleep flat on his back - but i dont like doing that too much at night- coz i dont like him in bed with me when its dark and i cant see him!! So i will do that sometimes during the day- or after the 5-6am feed.

He has continued sleeping all afternoon!! I am hoping now he hasnt slept too much today and then will be up all night!! lol Now watch me complain that he has slept TOO much during the day!!!! hahaha

SB - it's been a good day for both of us!! Kye slept from 11am through till like 3pm I couldnt believe it!

Trish - I am feeling heaps better that I am finally starting to 'nut' him out. I am feeling more confident in recognising his cries which is making me feel so much better

Another milestone today too is that he only had 6 feeds. I am trying to get him to 4 hourly so he doesnt have another 600+ gram gain again next wednesday. If he does put on that much I will be absolutely gutted, its far too much in one week. Time will tell I guess hey!

    WOW!!!!

My little champ had a marathon sleep!!!!!!

Last post i was hoping he would sleep will about 4:30 ish.. well he slept till about 7pm!!!!!! So i thought for sure i am in for a bad night, but no- he woke- i changed fed, changed again wrapped tight and tried to feed some more- till he wasnt interested anymore- and instead of me having to feed him to calm him down- as he wasnt cranky (not a single cry all day!!!!!!) i just layed him in his bouncer and HE PUT HIMSELF TO SLEEP!!!!!!!!!! I just watched him and his eyes got heavy and he blinked like 3 times- and then didnt open them again till get this.... 4am!!!!!!!!!!! So that was from 8pm- 4am- his biggest sleep ever!!!! When i woke up and saw the time i couldnt beleive it!! Not to mention my boobies were full and ready to explode!!! lol

thank you thank you thank you Sasha for starting this thread, thankyou trish for sleep cycle info- and The Pixie for the idea of making day like night... i wasnt wrapping him like i do at night during the day and i think this has helped alot too!!!! Thank you thank yo thank you!!!

LoL the only thing now is that miss spending so much time with him.. hahaha- even though he was always tired and crying and cranky- yesterday it felt like i hardly spent any time with him coz all he did was sleep!!! lol But as long as he is happy- thats all that matters!!!!

Hey I'm glad to hear it's working for both of you! It's great when they sleep well, they're so much happier when they're awake! Keep up the good work.
