We had friends over who has 3 kids; 5, 3 & 1 and they all have a 'comfort' toy of some sort. She has rules that the toys are not allowed to come shopping and a few other places and thought it is strange that we haven't given Amy a toy or a blanket for comfort. I said that she doesn't have anything in her cot because if SIDS.

This is something we haven't thought of at all. Amy is a confident, happy baby who is developing well. She gave up her dummy about a month ago and never really wanted them much. She uses her thumb for comfort if she wakes during the night or if she is tired and we are happy with this.

So my question is do babies need a 'comfort' toy? Could you please let me know your experiences, positive or negative about this.
