She will not sleep from wrapping to sleeping bag

    Hey There,
I am trying to get my 21 week old into a sleeping bag - i think she is relying on wrapping to much to fall asleep plus she is getting out of them and is to big for her 'miracle wrap ' ....plus I like to know that when I put her in a bag and not the wrap that at least she is safe and at the correct temperature when it is so cold lately.
How do you make the transition from wrapping to bag? My Bubs keeps knocking out her dummy when I'm trying to settle her in the bag and she doesn't sleep for as long as she used to when she was wrapped. ........help me, I just need some sleep too!

Have you got a sheet or something light that you could wrap around the sleeping bag?
Then maybe you could slowly loosen the wrap til she doesn't need it anymore.

We moved away from wrapping by putting a light blanket over DS (polar fleece was good for us during winter) and tucking it tight into the sides of the cot. That way he could have some movement but still felt the comforting pressure of the tuck. If you can't tuck it in tight enough to get roll up a piece of cloth and wedge that in when you tuck the blanket so it doesn't come out.
    Hope this helps!

DD hated sleeping bags from the moment i introduced one. I have tried a few times in the past year but she really kicks up a stink so now we use blanket sleepers so she has freedom for leg movement. Not sure how small they come size wise though...

Oh also, maybe a sleep positioner (like two cylindrical pillows joined with fabric) would make her feel a bit snugglier while she gets used to a bag. We have the Safe and Sound one from Target.

Like Sacha, my bub HATED the sleeping bags. We have the sleepsuits and did what Krys said with the tucking in. To make it secure I rolled up a flat nappy and squeezed it down each side of the matress.
We did however wrap until 8 months.

we used to wrap over the top of the sleeping bag and gradually stopped doing it - it worked a treat and he was still nice and cosey in the morning after the wrap had come undone

Yeah have to say like a couple of the others that we started by putting her in the sleeping bag and then doing a light wrap of a sheet around her, then progressed to a sheet tucked in the cot.
to this day she has a sheet and a polar fleece blanket on top of her.
she was a bit unsettled at first but we stuck to our guns and after about a week she got the hang of it again.

    Hi Kanda,
great question as I am also at this stage as DS has nearly outgrown all the wraps I have. What i have been trying is wrapping at night & using the sleeping bag for most day sleeps, if DS hasn't slept long enough for the last 2 sleeps then I will wrap.
Let me know how you go

Just an update on trying this for our bub, the last three nights have been horrible, she is waking every 1 1/2 hours and I am ready to throw in the towel on this one. will try wrapping her around the sleeping bag but doesn't that render the sleeping bag as pointless?...sooo tired.
