My DD2 slept from 7pm till 6.30 this morning. She is 8 weeks old and rarely cries, she mostly grunts a lot! but when she is awake she is very alert. She usually wakes for one feed or two during the night (1am and 5). She is 61cm long and over 5.5kgs.
Is this ok?
My other daughter was a terrible sleeper and I am not used to this at all!!!
ds used to do this just sleep for 21 hours a day in total they said babies can sleep that long it was like he fed and slept that was it. As a result we struggled with weight gain along with other issues like bfing issues and tounge tie but ds was only 3.5 kilo around 8 weeks old
DD started sleeping like this at roughly the same age. You may find these sleeps start happening more regularly. DD has started going down between 8-9pm then wakes between 6-7.30am and she is a tad over 11 weeks.
Sounds fine to me! My DS#1 slept through from 10pm - 8.15am from 8 weeks of age and DS#2 slept from about 10pm - 7am from 6 weeks of age.....they are now both robust little boys, great sleepers still and love their food! As long as bubs continues to put on weight, is happy and content (babies don't have to cry alot! It is a blessing when they are this good!!!) and feeding well - you are doing fine and everything is okay!
However....if you still are concerend, just speak with your CHN.....just the same as if you think they might be sick you would go to the GP. No one will tell you that you are silly. Just a GREAT, GREAT Mummy!!!!
My DD started sleeping through at 8 weeks and has ever since, she is 16 weeks tomorrow. She will sleep for around 11 1/2 - 12 hours every night and also rarely cries. When she wakes in the morning she will happily play in her cot until I go and get her.
Some babies are just better sleepers and it seems like you have one as well.
My DD was just like this and still is - she rarely cries - people at MG always comment they have never heard her cry, I waited and expected some sort of sleep regression but it never happened she continued to sleep all night now 8 months. Her weight gains have always been great so although at 12 weeks I was told I should wake her I never did. She is a very happy baby, apparently I was the same and DH was very placid too. I have to say though as a first time mum at times it has worried me the sleeping (people say that night wakings occur around learning to do new things so I was worried she wasn't progressing correctly - she was in a brace for hips so has been slow to do some things) and the fact nothing bothers her (first swimming lesson said they had never seen such a relaxed baby but what I wanted was a reaction). At MG it is always "but DD is such an easy baby" whenever I suggest anything. I am not worried about her anymore, have accepted that she is just a chilled little girl and just wanted to reply to say I understand how it can be worrying when a baby doesn't do what is said to be "normal" for their age even when it is quite a good thing like not crying much and sleeping overnight. Also I have to admit that sometimes seeing her upset makes me happy for a second because I am seeing a reaction.
Oh I'm going to cry!!! I want my 9 1/2 month old to sleep even just 8 hours straight... or I'd take 6 even!!! Oskar was a great sleeper and would sleep 10 or so hours overnight... !!!
The first time DD didn't wake for a feed was sometime before she was 2 months old. By the time she was 3 months old it was usual for her to sleep 11 hours.
She has had some sleep issues over the last almost 2 years, but on the whole she has been a good sleeper. She always gained weight well while she was breastfed, solids were a bit of an issue, but that is another story. She certainly wasn't starving due to sleeping too much.
