has he forgotten how to roll back?

DS is now 5 1/2 months.. and he can now roll from back to tummy with no troubles at all.

BUT when i used to give him tummy time he used to be able to roll from his tummy to back.. for some reason he can't do it any more..

has this happened to any of your children?? it's really weird that he all of a sudden seems to have forgotten how to roll from tummy to back when he used to do it before... so now he just screams when he wants to roll from tummy to back and i have to roll him over.. gets very annoying after a while..

what should i do? I have spent the last 2 weeks constantly with him on the floor trying to encourage him to roll from tummy to back.. using toys and me etc etc..

any suggestions would be great thanks..

Sirenz, I found this with Jack too. One he'd mastered rolling he didn't bother doing it anymore for ages. A few other mums I know found the same thing. I think once they start putting all their effort into learning a new skill, an old one can be forgotten for a while. Don't worry, it's very normal. He'll impress you with a new trick or two and then go back to rolling like he's been doing it all his life!

This has so happened to my DD!! She rolled from tummy to back first when she was about 5 1/2mnths old and then rolled from back to tummy when about 6 mnths old. Now she rolls from back to tummy all the time and does 360's but then cries because she can't remember to how to roll back!! My health nurse said it's normal for them to forget things and just to remind them 0 but don't stress. It's like once they learn a new skill they forget an old one for awhile!
