Right I know I really shouldnt complain but want to see what you all think!
Isabelles pattern of sleeping is really odd in the afternoon - and Im not sure why, here is a typical 24hour period although times vary obviously but the gap between feeds doesnt.
6pm bath feed bed
2am-3am change feed bed
730am change feed
830am nap (goes down easily - a bit of grizzle)
930am change play feed play
11am - nap (again goes down easily - grizzle, dummy if needed - asleep in 5 minutes)
12pm - change play feed
130pm - nap ( yep asleep in 5 - no worries)
230pm change play feed
330-4pm ish - will NOT sleep, cries - not jsut a grizzle but a heartwrenching cry - i dont leave her long just a few minutes at a time as there are gaps in her crying so i think she might settle.
Go in and cuddle for a bit, try to put her down, shes quiet for about 5 minutes then screaming again.
So this has been going on for about a fortnight now - Im lucky with the rest of the day/night I know - but I hate seeing her so upset....
Could it be wind building up, or is she not sleeping long enough during her other naps?? How long should she be sleeping during the day??
Any ideas suggestions would be great -BTW today it took me from 4 -5 and she finally fell asleep after I walked laps around the house with her in the pram for 20 minutes. Currently snoozing in the pram.....
TIA

: Added am and pm !!!
I think she is a great sleeper! Babies often have a time during they day they are unsettled and it is notoriously in the late afternoon. Perhaps use this time to have her in a carrier on your body if you really think she is tired. That way she can nap and not be left alone. Otherwise perhaps use this time for an activity that is relaxing BEFORE she gets cranky, eg a bath, massage, reading a book etc.
HTH.
I think so too !!- I think thats why it upsets me that she gets so upset and grizzly and I wish I could help her during this time, but I will definately try your suggestions.
Tan, I think you have done very well with Izzy! Wish Laila would go to sleep that easy too! But I can imagine that it's frustrating you in the afternoons. Our bub has that too but it's usually between 6 and 7.30 pm, or onwards! (My ratbag is 7 weeks today).
Maybe you could be onto something in regards to her shortish sleeps during the day?? Maybe they are just a bit too short and it builds up until she is overtired during that grumpy time??? (I have no idea really- sorry!) So maybe try and get her to go and have a bit more sleep at her nap times??? That doesn't help much does it! I think what I would do is similar to what you do, I would stick her in her pram, and go for a walk down the park or somewhere nice. Use that time for a bit of exercise! Then, wait till she grows out of it!!
Sorry not much help really!
Whats your secret to getting Izzy settled so quick anyway!??!!!
Wow I with Taia would've slept like that! Your little one sounds like a good sleeper to me!! If she wants to stay up in the late avo then I think that's ok! She probably just want's more Mummy Time! I wouldn't worry - keep her up and see how she goes!
Tan, like Lee said, sometimes babies take a while to get into a deep sleep and if they wake up within 45mins-1 hour they haven't reached that deep sleep yet. Will she settle back to sleep with dummy etc if she wakes within the hour? If Marley woke within an hour of going down, I would give her the dummy or rewrap her and she would usually go back off for another 1 or 2. You have a really good routine though and it does take a bit of time for them to settle into it. You are doing great.
Sounds like a great routine to me too, Tan. Could be that she is getting overtired, as others have suggested, but I found Natalie really hard to get back to sleep after her 40min naps, so sometimes it is easier just to follow their lead... Not saying that its not worth a go, of course. Does she seem happy during her other awake times? I used to try to resettle Natalie because she was just aaaalways grumpy and overtired. If Issy seems happy the rest of the day, then maybe she is getting enough sleep but is just cross with the world and doesn't know what to do with herself in the afternoons... I agree with Lee - if it were me, I'd put her in the stroller and go for a walk.
OMG Tan, Lee and Nat, your ticker pics are just so gorgeous... How cute are those babies?!?!
