Dan - Nope J never had one nor wanted one so that is easy! He has a bottle still though but Iz had one til nearly 3 so Im not too worried about that.
Well last night was interesting, we have been having a few issues with her at night lately just mucking around needing water, toilet, blankets off etc. anyway so she cried for about 10 mins when she realised that the dummy was gone, and I lay down with her and she was ok. Problem was I lay there for nearly 30 mins and she just kept mucking around so then when I went to leave she cracked it, then wanted the big light on, then wanted the door more open etc. the list went on and on and on til 9 (2 hours after she went to bed) by which time I had lost it. She didn't mention the dummy again but was obviously a bit thrown by it. I ended up putting her in our bed and she fell asleep within 2 minutes and then moved her to her bed where she slept til 6:40 with no wake up for dummy! Just woke up with a happy face on!
The really interesting thing was that she used to twirl her hair to go to sleep, started when she was around 12 mths and as her hair got longer she would twist it and curl it til she fell asleep, I noticed yesterday that she didn't do it for her nap but she didn't last night either, so it was like it was linked to the dummy?? :( Made me a bit sad not to see her "curling" as she calls it - my baby seems to be growing up.
Anyway seems to have been a fairly painless transition so far, the mucking around last night could have been any night recently so Im not sure that it was the dummy or not!

DD1 used to play with her clothes tags when sucking her thumb (the tags at the neck ot tops etc..) but when we stopped the thumb sucking the tag playing stopped too!
hope she goes to sleep easier tonight for you

So a wee update on our gorgeous girl! Day 3 and far out why didn't we do this months ago!! She has been fine, a few tiny tears at nap time at mums yesterday and today, but both kids stayed at mums last night, and mum said she went to bed and didn't even ask for the dummy at all!! :o Awesomeness! When she was a bit upset at nap time mum just explained to her that she gave them away and that the babies needed them much more than she did and she stopped crying and went to sleep!
I was a bit worried about mums because although Iz only had her dummies at home at nap time and bed time I know at mums she had it alot more because she would sook for it and mum would give in and give it to her. Mum said today that she felt that it was a different kid at her house! She woke up bright and happy from her nap instead of all sulky and wanting the dummy to sit on the couch with etc..
Tonight at bed time there was minimal fuss, I am a bit more rejuvinated after a break with them and was really calm with her mucking around and after going in to her twice she is now fast asleep with no fuss!!
Yay! Just wanted to give all the other dummy addict mamas some hope and I really think that her "giving' them to the babies is what really helped us rather than us or someone taking them away.
