Well here i am at 5.45, and i am trying to get DS (7hakf mnths ) to go back to sleep..
DS is on a great routine, but he is still waking twice a night for a bottle, i know he can sleep more then 4 hrs at a time, as he has done 7 & 8 hr stints in the past. I go back to work in a few weeks time so i am trying to get his sleep sorted.
During the day DS will have 2 huge sleeps, of about 1 half hrs each. Goes down for the night at 7pm, will drink appr 270mls, then he will wake between 10-midnight and drink another 200mls.. without fail he wakes between 4 & 5 and expects another bottle of 200mls. if i do give it to him, he then only sleeps an hr. I dont think he needs about 700 mls between 7 & 7.
Also i dont know if it is milk intake, having appr 1000mls a day which is ample, but each meal he will only have about 6 teaspoons of food..when i feed him..
So i am trying to get him to sleep from the night feed thru til at least 6.30am, I know it is going to be hard, but it needs to be done. I cant be starting my day so early each day especially when i have a 2 year old as well. Any siggestions. I have offered him water, and it did work last week but not so far today/tonight.
I have a 2 year old (almost) and a 7 months old too.
At the moment DS has 4 x 150ml bottles and 3 main meals a day.
His last bottle is at 6pm before bed. The past week we have just been refusing him feeds overnight until after 530am.(this is ok lol).
It was rough the first few nights, he would cry and would take lots of hugs and snuggling and humming and then put him back in her bed , tuck tight and walk out. He would eventually settle back to sleep. He isnt hungry but rather a creature of habit in waking for a feed.
The past 2 nights he has sleep through 6pm-6am no feeds. Often he will stir about 10pm but we will re tuck him in stroke his head for about 1 min then walk out. i think he jsut needs to know we are close.
As for DD. i am surprised what she sleeps through. If he does wake her up she isnt too concerned. Will crawl into bed with us (as DS is his cot - we try not to take him out as this only wakes him more). And then she will go back to sleep easily when he isnt crying anymore.
it isnt fun with 2 under 2 with the waking and crying but since we went on holidays and had to have both sleep int he same room for 5 nights, DD kiinda got used to the crying.
Thanks, i think after he has that late night bottle of appr 200mls, that should defi see him thru til at least 6am. gee would do anything to go 7 pm til 6am. He did go back to sleep finally this morn, at about 6.30 and slept til 8am. he is defi a creature of habit, we will see what tonight brings. but i dont want to give a bottle before 6.30am. not when i know he shouldnt be hungry !
