    Question Solids at 3 months??

My little man started having a some organic baby food or quater of a weet bix around lunchtime and its helped his reflux emmensley it was orgionally my doctors idea to give him teaspoon of mashed banana once a day.
I think that solids coupled with changing his formula to Karicare gold has really helped, but Monday Im off to Tweddle and im worried about what they will say and that they will make me stop feeding him solids.
Im not asking you to judge me so if all you have is critisism then dont bother posting.
Im after some advice, I'm not sure what to do, its working so I dont wanna stop, Feeding him so early wasnt an easy decision but i tried and so far so good.

    1) They can't make you do anything.
    2) If you get the 'shouldn't be on solids thing' -SMILE and say, yeah I realise what the recommendations are, but this is working for us ok?'
    3) They may get more pushy - but you you can ask them to focus on the other issues rather than the feeding. They are there to help and unless the solids is making him critically ill they will have to agree to disagree with you.
    4) If you go in ready for a fight, you will feel critized no matter what they say. So put your hackles down.....

I know you are chickie - tis ok. Sleepless nights and reflux are enough to send the best of us bonkers.

Before you go in, say to yourself - I'm feeding him now because it is working, it's my choice, my instincts are telling me this.
Also, try not to build up a fight or flight scenario in your mind. I went to a sleep centre too and the ladies in there were just lovely (in fact one babysat me 33 years ago!). It didn't work for us, and I left a little early with best wishes from everyone.

BTW - they are sort of expecting you to be a bit of a wreck, or you wouldn't be there. It's ok to burst into tears, they might even make you a cup of tea.

ETA - I cried at margarine ads....

If it makes a difference my step mum said 5 years ago the recommendation was 3-4months to start solids.

I think these things go round in patterns.

You just have to do what works for you and your child and you know what works for your child beter than anyone.

    GL with your appointment.

Tweddle is an infant sleep school in Victoria. You may have also hear of Tresillian in NSW.
I think sometimes they also counsel and PNDepression problems during the stay.

FWIW panta - nothing you ever do is going to be right by anyone. Dr says one thing, MCHN says another, hospital contradicts all other advice... mother yells at you for doing things different to her.

Lulu has given the best advice, as always. You will be fine. You need to do what works for YOU and Harrison. And okay, so he doesn't need the food, but goshdarn you DO need the rest, and he needs the sleep. And it's helping. Happy mum = happy bub. K?

    Good luck sweet.

As Lulu said they can't make you do anything, and as long as you aware of the possible consequences, no-one has the right to give you you a hard time..

FWIW, we gave DD rice cereal at about 3 months, for a week, then stopped and didn't touch solids again till 5 months.. IT got us over a hurdle at that time. She was interested for a few days, then the interest stopped, so we stopped..

babe...deep breath and tell them your his mother and you know what your doing! IF that fails send them my way!

Nikolaus started solids at 6 weeks I know I know early but he had projectille reflux and after trying a number of things the doctor suggested that we try giving him solids......I coped it when I had a tupperware party form my SIL who ripped my head off (she is a nurse ) when everyone bar the demonstrator had gone home. I told her to mind her own business and leave me to my own devises. Stupid woman made me look incompedent infront of the demonstrator who I was hoping would take me on under her wing, which of course she didnt after it
